We get right to match though. Of course he could leave, but if we really want him we will re-sign him. Judiging by his tender though we aren't afraid to lose him. We may have a different backfield all together next year which isn't really going to bother me.

Sounds like Maxwell/Alonso deal is not totally dead. Maxwell has to pass his physical. Dolphins concerned about his shoulder.

I would say the other thing that I love with Elway and FA is he loves to get guys that while they haven't done incredible their entire career they have shown some promise. He likes to get the 26-28 year old players getting ready to enter the prime of their career. That is what I think the Stephenson contract was for. He has all the tools athletically to do well in our system. Just needs somebody to help build up the technical side of it.
I actually just watched the game against Houston week 1 where he was lined up at LT and going against Clowney. He got beat around the corner by Clowney but had the athleticism to get turned real quick and just give him a quick shove guying an extra second for Alex Smith. My guess is the Broncos saw things like that and thought if we can coach this kid up he could be our next steal.

Thought of Kaepernick with Elway intrigues me.

This might be my favorite post of the day. RGIII is somewhat in that same boat for me. Just the idea of that kind of athleticism in a Kubiak system man that could lead to some big plays. That backside DE always having to worry about the QB so those cutback lanes being wide open for the RB. If we signed either of those guys I would easily say we are a top-5 rushing team next season.

:L how can you have a top 5 rushing offense when the defense doesn't fear/respect your qb to beat them thru the air? Unless either of those two prove they can be effective from the pocket, which is the major knock on them by just about everyone associated with football ( RG3 is ranked 67th for God's sake! Do the math ). Maybe you also haven't been listening either to many who have been saying that wherever those two go,that system they had " early " success in, doesn't work anymore. Defenses have caught up with it. To think either of those two will improve your run game and still struggle from the pocket is crazy. If either were to make big strides in their pocket game, then yeah the run game could be very good. In till that happens, your run game will struggle much like it did last few years. Come on! :)

Randymon at this point just have to agree to disagree on this. :suds:

I would say that both of those guys have been in terrible schemes that did not fit their skill set after they had success. The coaching staffs tried to change them and make them something they are not.

Now I could also say that teams were starting to figure out Brock Osweiler. He really struggled down the stretch. The more tape that gets out there on him the more he could struggle as well. To me you are taking a risk either way. I just see Kaepernick or RGIII as a better fit for what Kubiak wants to do with this offense. Osweiler just isn't quite the level of athleticism that makes this offense thrive.

Again Randymon I do hope the Broncos get things done with Osweiler. I do think he has decent/good potential. I think he can do just fine in a Kubiak system as it fits him much better than the Gase system we ran with Manning. He has decent athleticism and yes right now I would say has the best arm of the 3 at least accuracy wise.

Now having said that you have to look at it in the sense of signing Kaepernick or RGIII also means we have more cap money to spend elsewhere. The Broncos are going hard after OL talent to try and fix our OL issues. So is one of those guys+upgraded OL+3rd round comp pick worth more to the team...Again risk either way in my opinion.

I would agree on this if the Broncos O is like everyone else's in the NFL. But since it is Kubiak's O (and I'd like to be critical but we just won the SB with it!) I think there is a better chance of success with a Kap running the O than if it was a more traditional offensive game plan.

JMO - which is probably worthless!

Janoris Jenkins officially agrees to terms with Giants. Sounds like if we don't get Osweiler it will be Kaepernick.

I find myself a little nervous about today and all that will happen. So much happening and a new era of Bronco football is beginning! Who will be our QB? What will our starting OL look like? Defensively do we make any surprise signings to replace the guys we are losing?

Yeah looks like RGIII is out of the running. I will be optimistic with either of them. I do know the Broncos did finally start talking to Osweiler's agent again late yesterday.

If you guys can somehow watch nfl network episode that has been on right now and listen to the comments regarding RG3 especially, their asking which teams would be a possible landing spot for either and both names have come up in Denver with Kap having the highest possibility. Every report/opinion on RG3 is he "might" just fit somewhere as a "back up ". There is no consensus from anyone I`ve heard so far that thinks RG3 will have any success as a starter anywhere. Kap has been given slightly better hope IF someone has the luxury and the time to see if they can improve his deficiency as a pocket passer and his struggles reading defenses and going thru his reads "during" games. It`s already been mentioned quite a bit this morning that Elway may be forced to take a shot on Kap if they lose Oz. Maybe because I`m home all day and all I watch is the NFL stations and you guys only get to see bits and pieces, but for months now, neither of those two are getting favorable or confident votes to succeed wherever they might end up. I`ll give Kap a shot at landing in Denver but it will be because of desperation by Elway if that occurs. You two might have noticed that a couple teams are locking up their back ups ( Stanton,McCoy for example) because their value has risen ( production, starter injuries, etc ) and their afraid to lose them. Nobody seems to even covet Kap or RG3 as a decent candidate even for that role.! Just listening to nflnetwork while I type this and they just said most teams are reluctant. to give up a draft pick in a trade for Kap. Not even a 7th. What`s that tell ya. Listen to the noise Gentleman.:)

I`m really hoing Denver finds a way to keep Trev. His value is unquestioned.

From the sound of it he is for sure gone. Atlanta and Chicago have him already at $7-8 million a year and that is just too rich for the Broncos. I will definitely miss him. Just like I still miss the guy he replaced in Woodyard. They are the type of guys that play with a lot of heart and play much bigger than they really are.

Id say he is as good as gone. He has a lot of offers, Bears, Falcons, Titans and we havent offered him at all.
