Luckily for us though we could probably get by without adding a single player to our offense for next year. At this point focusing on defense is what we need anyways - and preferably the d line imo.

I think Center and RB should be added this year.

Yep agree with you guys. Need a center for sure. Another RB is also needed but our main need is on defense, glad this is a good defensive draft.

I agree RB and C are needs but both are easy to fill in FA.
Except we don't have any cap space to sign FAs as of now. That will change. Obviously Griffin is gone. I don't expect hatcher to be back (atleast not under his current contract). Riley may be a contract casualty as well as a few others that SM is actively trying to renegotiate. Those that he can't will be cut before the 9th.

We've seen a number of times how the anticipated moves will give us plenty of cap space even with Kirk's deal.

Yup. But every player we cut has to be replaced. If you are using FA to do it, you really don't gain that much unless you sign a less talented player, which kinda defeats the purpose. For this reason, I don't see us overly active in free agency. A couple of depth/ST players and maybe one starting type player.

That is true for the high profile guys (which this current regime thankfully appears to be resisting). However - with some of the guys that are perhaps talented but a little less known value can be gained. I would guess that this is especially true for a position like RB.

Bobs contract alone is enough for a RB and C with plenty leftover.

Are you sure? What will the cap be once he is released? I guess it also depends on the quality of C and RB you desire. There is a bunch of RB FAs this year so they will probably go a bit cheaper than one might expect. But quality Cs are a rarity this year so they will be more expensive than typically.

2016 NFL Free Agency: Offensive Line Overview - Over the Cap

Here is the projection (made late last season) on 2 of the top candidates:

Alex Mack, Browns (C)

Cleveland matched a five year, $42 million offer sheet the Jaguars made to Mack in 2014. That contract also contained a player option to void the contract after two years. Should Mack choose to exercise that option at the end of this season, I would not be surprised if the Jaguars take another swing at him, given that they set up their current center situation as a short term solution (more on that below). If so, they could easily just recycle their offer sheet, slightly adjusted for salary cap inflation, to come close to recently sealed deals with the likes of Mike Pouncey and Rodney Hudson.

Projected Value: 5 years, $43-45 million

Stefen Wisniewski, Jaguars (C)
Wisniewski was one of the greatest mysteries of last year’s free agency, seemingly destined for a lucrative long term deal, but only able to secure a one-year, $2 million contract for a Jaguars team that had earlier swung and missed on Alex Mack. Wisniewski has once again started every available game, and it will be curious to see how much of his overestimated value is due to his actual talent, and how much is due to playing for low-profile, struggling teams like the Raiders and Jaguars. But with so many teams needing to upgrade their line, you’d have to think that Wisniewski will do better this time around.

Projected Value: 3 years, $9-11 million

The amounts could be higher when you consider that some teams have a lot of cap space. Wisniewski has injury concerns & Mack's price could be too high (& this type of pickup is counter to Redskins philosophy at this time).

We will see.

Releasing Bob frees up 16 million. No matter what C and RB you sign, you will have enough there alone. You can sign Forte and Mack for that...which I do not suggest. Here is hoping for CJ Anderson and Wisniewski.

I think you have to factor in KCs contract. That eats up a big portion of Griffin's $16M. I think after you factor that in, we are in the single digit cap space until other actions are taken.

According to Sports trac, today, we are at -$6M. Once griffin is released, we will be around $10M. thats not much considering we have some of our own FAs we want to sign as well as our pending draft class.

We are currently 6 million over...cut Bob and we are 10 mil under. Other restructures are a given and I expect KC will get a contract reasonably soon.

By cutting Roberts, Goldsten, and hatcher I think that will give us 15m right there. If you add in Riley it could be close to 20M.
