Elliotte Friedman suggests the Habs are looking to pick up a defensemen for the playoff push. A defenseman? For the playoff push? Playoffs?

That HAS to be image management from the Habs, right? Like someone was told to release a vague rumor to make it seem like they care?

I haven't a clue, this terrible team had 17,000 show up at an open practice (and to see PK assault a 1 month old) that I figure the team wouldn't have to resort to stunts.
I'm more upset that a team that scores so little thinks defense is the problem.

I think it's sad that this is likely to be a wasted year. I put the blame on the GM. When he found out Price was going to be out longterm he should have immediately acquired a reliable goaltender. Don't tell me it can't be done. The Wild acquired one last year & it changed their season. They didn't give up much either.

There is plenty to blame on the GM (still think more so on coaching) but a better goalie doesn't score for you. On December 2nd the Canadiens had scored 89 goals. Now they have 158. They have played 34 games since then. Thats barely over 2 goals a game, no matter who is in net youre not going to win many games. I'm convinced the Habs would only be slightly better if Price was healthy all year. I mean I know Coach T blames the goal tending and defense, but I respectfully disagree.
There was some crazy stat a few weeks ago that out of their last 26 games, the Canadiens scored 2 goals or less in 22 of them. (guessing exact numbers but it was terrible. Scroll down their results and see how many games they only scored one goal.

Its a bad team.

I don't get it. There's a lot of talent on the Habs roster. I still think they make the playoffs with a healthy Price or solid 1st string goalie though.

You're probably right. If they won 4 more games in the last 3 months they would still be in a playoff spot.

Do you think they should sell or buy as the deadline approaches?
Price is coming back after all. The 8th seed is really all the Habs or any team needs to have a chance.
Sell! Price is probably done for the year, the Canadiens are just not admitting it.

I just do not think the team usually scores enough to be competitive. I think a lot of its Therrien's fault (play not to lose, constantly switching lines, plays favorites) but a lot of it is talent as well. Trade some pieces away and get some fresh faces to play for a new coach next season. Please? And please no Guy Boucher.

Well I'd think that if any team almost doubled their win total for the last couple of months that they'd be in a playoff spot. :dhd:

I kid, I kid. The Habs have kind of righted the ship recently.

Whats to kid about? Its not like the team started epically well raising the expectations of even the most grounded fans then completely fell apart in equally epic fashion. Nope, its all good. Everything is coming up roses.

*wondering if an office drop ceiling could support my weight if I was hanging from a noose...Oh, I hope my co-workers would say I Lane Pryced myself*
