I have no way of knowing -what the condition of the relationship is between Elway and Manning, but when I read that their relationship had disintegrated - I don't find that believable.

It does appear to me that the Bronco front office and coaches - were entirely supportive of Peyton Manning's deserved status as a player. When he played terribly - they kept starting him - when he was out - they were solicitous of his reputation. When the Playoffs came - they put him back in there to start for his records and his 2nd Super Bowl - and plenty of ammo to argue his position for GOAT.

If Manning has a problem with the Broncos organization in any way and if he has a problem with Elway after what they did IN SPITE of the unreal crappy play from Manning, then screw him.

That is a big IF of course.

I am not sure why, but something has always bothered me about Manning. Maybe it is the fawning of the media and how has been propped up as a saint. I don't know.

I was a little surprised to read that report. After reading it, however, I can see how this might have been a frustrating year for both Elway and Manning. I think most Broncos fans were enthused when Elway hired Kubiak, since it reminded us of our success with Shanahan's offenses, which is basically Kubiak's offense.

At the same time we also knew that Peyton wasn't exactly the ideal QB to run that offense, even before age and injury took a toll on his effectiveness as a player. Add to that how badly the offense struggled much of the year, how competitive both guys are, and I can see how they both might have become frustrated. In my experience, frustration sometimes stresses relationships.

I think it's a credit to not only Manning and Elway, but also Kubiak, that to the extent frustration strained Elway's and Manning's relationship, everyone was still able to perform well enough that the team was able to win the SB. The defense and STs also deserve a lot of credit, of course. :thumb:

Too many folk give in to the devil. Which is the media. Don't go down that path. The media seduces the weak minded. They never have to apologize for being wrong. Funny how that works. ;)

I read a couple articles suggesting there was tension but none of them offered any solid proof. It was 100% conjecture on the part of every last writer. Stuff like Manning being irritated about the pay cut or being benched. None of this stuff passed the sniff test. This team carried itself as professionally as any team ever has. Winning cures all. I'm sure Manning didn't like sitting but reports that he was mad and that he's a selfish player...pure idiocy. Success breeds contempt. It's a sad truth about our society today. People resent those who are successful. If this weren't true a crazy whack job like Bernie Sanders would have been laughed off he campaign trail months ago. This reality manifests itself in sports writers and fans who want to manufacture "stories" in a ratings based business. Writing about professionals conducting themselves professionally in one of the most professionally run institutions in all of professional sports just doesn't generate the ratings that fabricating drama does.

NFL: Broncos, Manning 'Done,' Relationship Reportedly Deteriorated Beyond Repair In 2015

Excerpt:
""John Elway is done with Peyton Manning, and he won't be back with the team next year," Charlie Campbell of Walter Football revealed Monday morning. "The relationship between Manning and Elway has deteriorated over the past season, and Elway is ready to move on.""

Perhaps Charlie Campbell merely made that up. I have no idea. As I tried to express in my post above, I was surprised to read that, so I tried to think of why it might or might not be plausible, rather than assume it was simply made up.

I know there were also reports last year about how badly the relationships between Elway and both Del Rio and Fox deteriorated during the 2014 season. I obviously have no personal knowledge whether or not that is true. Doesn't strike me as totally implausible, however, so I don't assume that those reports were simply made up.

This kind of thing is exactly what I was talking about above. Campbell's quote isn't tied directly to anyone who matters. These kinds of quotes always at best are tied to "sources near the team/player" which is modern day reporterspeak for "this is a story I entirely made up but can't say that outright because it won't be credible so I'll make up an insider source and suddenly I'll be able to write whatever I want to write." I'll believe there is a strain when one of Elway or Manning says as much. Any reporter saying so is likely just trying to generate ratings.

Unfortunately, B.Sanders isn't the only whack job candidate. God help this country. There are some very capable good leaders out there but they don't have the money it takes to be heard. Can you imagine Putin respecting and fearing retribution from any of these candidates? Not me. Sad,Sad,Sad.

Certainly possible, as I mentioned in my post that you quoted. I don't know.

That is it Lucas I get the D wanting a Lady as president .. To bad they have yet to find one .

If the R would of done what D did I would of completely skipped voting .. There are a few decent R candidates . But I would not vote for Bush no way no how . I don't get this trotting out the same flawed bunch . Last I Checked there are others ..

I still like John Kasich ... Dr. Ben Carson ..

The reason is simple the last 30 years is all about divisiveness..

those two are not built that way ..

I would say Elway is doing everything possible to show respect to a legend. If they sign Osweiler right now it shows they have completely moved on from Manning and are either forcing him into retirement or forcing their hand of having to cut him. No reason to do any of that until absolutely necessary.

Also I do think this story has a little bit of legs. I mean just think about everything that happened this off season. Manning loses his close friend in Adam Gase and the coach he came under in Fox. He lost his offense being the main focus of what our offense did and went to a more under center run to set up the pass. Then you throw in that Elway asked Manning to take more than a 50% discount. That is a lot of change for a QB possibly in his final year in the league. I doubt though with the team winning that Manning cared quite as much. They say winning cures all problems in the NFL so I can't see him being upset with Elway when Manning still got all of his money and has a 2nd Super Bowl ring.

I was surprised to hear from Manning in an interview - the Manning was saying he only talked to Elway a couple of times since training camp - meanwhile Von Miller is bragging about how close he has become to JE.

They will start writing books about it - and then we will begin to learn the whole story.

Oh my God! Please don't let Houston Twitter see you give credit of any kind to Kubiak or they will lose their ever-loving minds!
