I have the feeling that we will move on and Malik will end up signing elsewhere - maybe even with the Raiders and Del Rio ..

I like Jackson a lot, but he has gone on record saying that he "wants to get paid", and truthfully, signing Oz and getting something done with Von Miller are the priorities ..

And we cannot go into next season with the OL in disarray again

How much did Jackson benefit from playing in this defense with the talent around him ?? .. Again, I am not saying he isn't a fantastic player, because he is ... but Julius Thomas was also a fantastic player on this team too

Perhaps you are right that Jackson goes elsewhere. He is quite versatile in that he is very good as both a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DT. Seems to me that that will certainly work to his advantage in free agency. I know that I would like for the team to re-sign him, but it might not be feasible.

I'm going to keep saying this but I think you can only keep 2 of Ware/Jackson/Osweiler. You have to decide which 2 you can keep from that group. Do you want to go the young guys but lose your emotional leader of the defense? Do you want to keep the defense together? Or do you want to keep Ware to lead the defense and see if Osweiler can lead the offense?

To me if we are to keep this defense together then it will be with us going to the draft in the 1st round to find our QB and having them on a cheap contract while we have so much money wrapped up in the defense for the next 5-years. Otherwise if we go with Osweiler the defense will have to lose at least 1-2 pieces.

If your scenario played out, I would go with youth: Jackson and Osweiler. I love Malik but quarterback is still the most important position on the field IMO.

I was wondering this morning - of all the great D's to win the SB - bears, Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, etc - how many won back to back? I think that answer is none. So I hope we prepare to win in other ways as well.

Hmm. Think I'd be inclined to let Ware go, but it's a tough call. He is still obviously an outstanding player, as he showed in the SB. Also, your point about his leadership makes him valuable. Guess I just think that Barret and Ray are more capable replacements for him than we have (or are likely to get) for either Oz or Jackson.

If the team decides to let Oz go, then I wonder if they might consider drafting Paxton Lynch from Memphis. Don't like the idea of going with a rookie QB as the starter, but I think that he might be a good fit in the Kubiak offense.

Another guy I have been watching today is Dak Prescott of Mississippi State. He is one of those decent throwers that has the legs to run. He from what I have seen does a great job of throwing on the run so he would be able to do the bootleg and with keeping teams more honest with such a running threat I think it would make at least our run game something people have to respect while he learns to throw the football at the NFL level. Could probably get him in the 2nd round so wouldn't even have to trade up like I think you will for a guy like Lynch.

Elway definitely has some crazy decisions to make this off season. In Elway we trust though.

I've seen Prescott play a good bit. Definitely think he has a lot of potential. Still not crazy about starting a rookie QB, though.

Oh I get not starting a rookie but like I said if we are actually serious we want to keep all the pieces of this defense together then to me that is the only way we make that happen. We would need a guy at that position to be on such a cheap contract so that we could be like the Seahawks of the past few years where they can have the high priced guys because of not having to spend on the most important position. So then it just comes down to would Elway be willing to take such a chance to depend so much on a rookie leading the offense?

Excellent point Spring, I've never really given that much thought. My guess would be that teams really study the hell out of what a defense did and make intense efforts to find a weakness and exploit it. Or as some here have stated, players get their ring and move on to more money and other teams. Very hard to keep Championship teams together.

I would say the money side of it is the harder part. Usually the top defenses in the league not only have great starters but amazing depth. When you have to start paying those top players top money it takes a huge toll on depth plus then can't resign all 11 to megadeals either. Now like I have said the Broncos do have the ability to keep most of the depth and all of the starters if they are willing to hand the reigns over to a rookie QB. Not sure that is what they want to do though so probably means at least 1 starter on the defense is gone and maybe some of the depth.

I thought on this some today Jackson is expendable .....I hate to say that but if I think about us picking up cheap Street agents like Walker and Smith ... I think instead we should work on MLB"er Danny instead my hart kind hurts saying that but we have the Very best DL coach so yes we can let go Jackson and IMO we got his replacement in Kenny Anunike I get it we will have to pick up FA and and Draft .. But if you really think about the real teeth of this team Trevathan and Marshal are probably just as important .. In Run Stopping ... We should draft a DE that is more in the mode of pass rush with decent Run stoping ..

Burton and players like him are probably more important in the big picture good by Mister Jackson ...Bummer

If you think about it Elway probably tried to give him a really reasonable contract ...We are moving on ...Dang

Anuike has definitely looked like a promising player in the preseason games that I've seen him. Not sure that he can hold up against the run the way that Jackson does, though.

Anunike has had a hard time staying healthy though. Whatever happened to Darius Kilgo?

Not sure, but I think he went on IR. Another promising DL, but he plays inside.
