Not only did SI write that OU looked bored is destroying Auburn that year, but SI also said that it appeared that if OU would have been "truly riled", if I recall correctly, they might have scored 100 points.

'71 OU/Nebraska was epic. I remember it well. Johnny Rodgers was the reason my rich uncle down in Florida would call my dad and say, "Gimme $500 on that team with that fast *****'.

I hear that a lot, but I have a hard time believing players and coaches don't care enough to try and win if it's not the NC game. If this is the case, then that loss is on the coaching staff for not caring enough to get the team up for the game.

It's b/c that is a b.s. excuse Bammers use. Sorry, but if you played the game, there isn't a coach or player that wouldn't care about playing in the Sugar Bowl. NOT ONE, especially a coach like Nick Saban.
