Coaches run their course. Coughlin here is no different than Reid in KC. Won 11 in a row and he was toast too....

I think it's going to be Coughlin, and either with McAdoo, if the Giants let him go as a OC, or Shurmur, and also Spags as the DC. Coughlin can then mentor Shurmur or McAdoo. I'd be good with this.

He is a winner of Super BowlS

Didn't you always feel though that he kind of lucked into those Super Bowls a little? Those Super Bowl teams were only 9-7 and 10-6 those years. Five of the eight wins in the playoffs were by 4 points or less. Point is they were never a dominating team.

Compare his resume with Andy Reid.

- In 17 years, Andy has 11 playoff teams with 8 seasons of 11 or more wins.
- In 20 years, Coughlin has 9 playoff teams with 4 seasons of 11 or more wins.

If it wasn't for two arguably incredibly lucky Super Bowl runs, Coughlin would be viewed as just a good journeyman coach. Only a successful coach about half of the seasons he has coached.

His teams usually believe in themselves and can beat anyone. They beat the 18-0 Patriots by playing a better football game than them.

Don't get me wrong, I think Coughlin is a good coach....Just not a great coach. He put his teams in a position to win..and then he got lucky.

Coughlin coached the expansion jaguars to the AFC Championship game knocking off Jim Kelly and John Elway on the road in consecutive playoff games. Dude can coach football.

I like Coughlin and think he would be okay. Its just interesting that Reid arguably has a much better resume. I think that Lurie would love to turn back the clock and un-fire the guy. Unfortunately, the Eagles are now in a position that Coughlin may be about the best they can do.

I would prefer someone a bit younger than Coughlin. I know Reid needed to move after 15 years but he is still a young man. I want someone who can build a winning program for years to come. Not saying he is a great coach I just hope we find something different.

Eagles have put a halt on new interviews. I think it is down to Pederson or Coughlin. Must wait until KC is eliminated in order to announce Pederson. The longer the wait the less it will be Coughlin. The owners meetings are coming up and that might be another reason for the delay. I am now OK with anybody but Coughlin!

I think it's already done and they're just waiting for KC to finish before they announce it. 6 minutes Doug E Fresh you're on.

So I am in agreement that it is Pederson most likely, so I finally decided to read up on him a little.

- Career backup QB. Played behind some of the greats. Career 62.3 rating.
- Coached High School for several years.
- Coaching career has all been under one guy...Andy Reid.
- 2 years as a QB coach. 3 Years as an Offensive Coordinator.
- At KC, his offensive has went from being ranked 22nd, to 25th to 27th in total yards.
- At Philly, his passing offenses were ranked 9th then 13th. He coached Mike Vick and Nick Foles.
- Both Vick and Foles had much better years in 2013 without Pederson than in 2012 with him.
- Vick's best year as an Eagles was in 2010, the year before Pederson took over as QB coach, while we was still an assistant.

Is there anything that even hints at anything more than a journeyman coach?

While true...it happened twice and they played big when the stakes were the highest.

So a few interesting pieces from the article here: Eskin On Coaching Search: 'Coughlin Is Leader,' Then Shurmur, Pederson ... not sure if Wings is referring to this one about Eskin. Hopefully Eskin is right, I dont want Pederson. Also there might be a short leash on Roseman according to Eskin maybe he is getting the same deal as Chip did .. you have 1 year to prove yourself or your out.

It does make sense that Gase took the Dolphins job seeing that he wanted full control; also might be why were not going after Hue Jackson as he reportedly wants full control. Pederson and Coughlin dont want to deal with personnel. My hope is that Coughlin comes in and at least brings Spags and then Roseman flubs up and he is gone next year.
