Hope Lurie does his homework, but not drag his feet, and lose out on one of the top coaches.

If Chip was coaching today, we lose and get the better pick. It's amazing how these guys perform when w/o Chip around.

Didinger said he would give up the 1st round pick to New Orleans to get Payton.

That would not be smart. That's like saying KC should have traded a 1st to us for Reid. Peyton is a very good coach who's run has ended in NO like Reid's did here. No comp necessary.

Like Hue, Gase, McDermott all equally well, but Payton would be tops, I think.

Agree with this, and I think the Eagles will be interested in Hue and McDermott once they can get permission to talk to them.

Payton will be interesting. I think the Saints are going to keep him though.

I'm not sure what they're doing at head coach and I'm not sure the coach completely matters at this point

The front office needs to get more talent and depth on this team

Payton is under contract for the next two years at $8M per. It would take a trade and a raise to get him. I really don't see why this is even considered a possibility. Even if it was do you want to give up a first rounder for the right to shell out $8M per for a coach?

That would be idiotic! We must not consider Payton at all! There are better alternatives available in my opinion.
Would love to have someone that has not been a head coach before. Fresh approach with a good attitude and a willingness to learn when mistakes are made!

The only way you go after Payton and its what has been reported is if he is let go by New Orleans. You don't trade a pick for the guy. Good coach but he is not the next Lombardi.

I know this is not going to be popular... but I honestly wouldn't mind Mike Shanahan.. who looks like he is throwing his hat back in the ring.. going for a 2nd interview with MIA. That should take Gase out of contention for MIA possibly (which is still good for us). M. Shanahan is still a brilliant football mind, great with quarterbacks, which Lurie is looking for. Yes he is old, and would only be for so long - but I still believe in him.

And there is no coach that I'm giving compensation up for - other than belichick.

Dawkins was on with Mikey Miss and he absolutely made me tap the brakes on McDermott. He didn't trash him, but all he could say was "I dont know how he is now; I don't know if he can command a room when everyone's quiet and take charge. I don't know if he can adapt to all the day to day operations of a HC."

He also said McDermott obviously had big shoes to fill in Philly, but Andy helped McDermott a ALOT--perhaps to his detriment and that McDermott perhaps wasn't "allowed" to show his full capabilites as a DC because Andy was so involved. (I also recall when he was fired, that players didn't understand what McDermott was asking them to do).

My buddy in Charlotte said he wasn't sure how much DC'in McDermott actually does under Rivera. He might have been a figure-head DC to Rivera like Shurmur was an OC to Chip Kelly.
