At this point with all the players we will need to resign after this year you might as well wait on Sanders. At this time we only have 19 players under contract for 2017. Now obviously you add 2 draft classes so about 17 players to that number it helps out but good chance we have plenty of cap money not only this off season after Manning and Clady are for sure gone or back at very reduced rates but good chance we again have decent cap for 2017.

I cant see either one here .. Clady will be replaced in round one of 2016 draft IMO

Um not if he can't stay healthy. There's only so much money to go around.

You do get our staff is holding him back ...right ? He might be wanting to play ..Our staff is fine with this ..they probably want him full speed they have players that can do the same as him at 90% ..He could of played the last few weeks I am sure the staff wants that bad assed man on the field when it counts ...

As of right now, Ware has the Broncos third highest cap number for 2016 at $11.66 million, behind only Peyton Manning at $21.5 million (who will either be gone or drastically reduced, my money is on gone) and Demaryius Thomas at $15.2 million.

But the Broncos have a ton of guys that are free agents after this season. First and most expensive is going to be Von Miller, but after him the Broncos have to look at everyone from the 2012 draft class (Wolfe, Osweiler, Hillman, Bolden, Jackson, and Trevathan) as well as CJ Anderson, David Bruton, and Brandon Marshall (who is restricted). That's a lot of guys the Broncos have to sign.

If you hang onto Ware, you can't really justify keeping Wolfe and Jackson. Are you willing to let both of those guys walk for one season of Ware? I'm not. If the Broncos keep winning with Os, he'll command a lot of money, too. How much money does Anderson get, and can you afford to keep both Trevathan and Marshall?

There's a lot of decisions to be made, and as I said, there's only so much money to sign those guys. The Broncos save $10 million against the cap by cutting Ware, and they've got two young pass rushers ready to fill his spot. It's pretty much a no-brainer.

That's not true. Why do you think the Broncos traded up to get Shane Ray? They didn't draft him to sit behind Ware, they drafted him to replace Ware. Plus the Broncos are going to be spending a ton of money to re-sign Von Miller, do you think it's wise to allocate over $11 million dollars to both Ware and Miller? That's two pass rushers taking up probably around 16% of the cap, that's not a good use of cap money.

Like it or not, without a serious pay cut next season, Demarcus Ware is gone.

I could see him taking a long term contract that pays him the same money but counts way less as way to help out his hit on the cap hit for next year. but not a real cut in money like you are saying because bonus money involved

Dude, he'll be 34 years old next year. No way he gets another long term contract from anyone.

I would love for the Broncos to be able to keep Ware, but it's just not going to happen. Teams don't pay 34 year old pass rushers with back issues $11 million per season. Look at Robert Mathis with the Colts: he's 34 this year and the Colts are paying him $7 million this year and he's a bum. He can't stay healthy and he can't get sacks anymore (just two on the season).

Any team would be dumb to pay Ware $11 million next year, and I don't believe the Broncos are dumb.

You thought he was gone the last 2 years? This is only his second year on the team! It was pretty obvious from the way the deal was structured that he would most likely be released after his second year, unless he just played at an unbelievable level. That hasn't happened, and the fact that the Broncos traded up to draft a pass rusher just seals it. They took Ray to groom for a year under Ware, and to also fill in if Ware suffered injuries.

Ware will either take a huge paycut or be cut. I'd bet anything on it. He won't be a Bronco next year at $11 million, I promise you.

Have to agree with this. You don't trade up in the 1st round in the hopes of that player taking a back seat to a veteran. You want them to go out and take over the starting spot. Throw in Shane Ray since coming back from his injury earlier in the year has done well. He is really showing up in the pass rush and I have seen him make some very veteran decisions. Honestly probably one of the most underrated plays of the NE game is when he saw the screen pass on 3rd down and chased the guy down 8 yards down the field saving them from getting a 1st down late in the game.

Now I can see DeMarcus Ware being willing to take a pay cut. I think he will realize he doesn't want to go elsewhere and start over again but will still want to play. Throw in he is working with one of his favorite coaches in Wade and playing for a great defense. He also has the opportunity to really coach up some young guys. So if Ware is willing to come back say for $6 million next year I think both the Broncos and Ware jump on that idea.

Absolutely Ware is gone if he doesn't take a big pay cut for all the reasons stated in above posts. It is a no brainer. If he is a Broncos next yr he is making half his projected 2016 salary at most. Can he play at a high level for a majority of the season ? Odds are not in his favor and definitely not worth it at the expense of any of Denver's current D starters or their promising back ups. In a perfect World their isn't a Broncos fan that wouldn't want him around but of all the top guys on the D to resign, he makes the most sense to let walk. I just hope he makes a impact the rest of this year. He could very well play 1-2 series in next game he plays and be IR before PO's. Then there won't even be this discussion anymore.

When we signed I thought 2 years is what the contract really was . I thought that was all he would play for us . but not now he has earned all that contract .
