How about a combo draft. Lets say there are 8 teams. The 1st round, you can only pick from players currently in the NBA. The 2nd round, any player ever who isn't active now. The 3rd round, back to present. That would mean the person picking 1st on currents would get the last crack on legends, until everyone has 6 current and 6 former players

I like it but we will have more than 8 teams which means more than 50 current players drafted. The only way it would work is to rotate who has first pick every two rounds.

What about this wild idea called the PHASE 10 NBA Draft

RD 1: Players currently in NBA
RD 2: Players no longer in the NBA (almost better to have the last pick)
RD 3: Players who were drafted in round 2
RD 4: Players who were drafted in round 1
RD 5: Players who never went to a all-star game
RD 6: Players who played from 1980-1990
RD 7: Players who played from 1960-1970
RD 8: Players who never won a NCAA championship
RD 9: Players who won a NCAA championship
RD 10: Players who won a NBA Championship

I'm pretty much open to whatever everyone wants but I was trying to think of a draft that eliminates all the best players, seems all our NBA drafts include all the best.

Thanks once in awhile I have a good idea. We could also do it this way that you can make those buckets instead of rounds and you need to pick 1 player from each bucket in any order you want. However I like it set in rounds but of course what ever the league wants. You can also trade and then have 2 from the same round/bucket that you desire?
