It's silly man, if I were pitching to him I would just pitch him outside. If you walk him, you walk him, he's so locked in right now it's dangerous to throw him anything that he can pull.

He ice cream scooped, one armed a very good breaker at his ankles. It was luck and nothing Arrieta did wrong at all

You're not making yourself more sympathetic at all, ElTex.

Yeah, Murphy golfed that one out of here, but it ain't luck. The guy is the hardest batter in MLB to strike out, and has great hand-eye.

It was a great pitch, and the right pitch, but Arrieta got straight up BEAT. Tip your cap.

That only applies in basketball.

That's what they say in the NBA. I don't think it applies here, especially after the Cubs have lost both games even though their best two pitchers pitched. Now they get to face deGrom.

Not to be all Negative Nellie, but deGrom wasn't at his best in game 5 and he has logged more innings this season than before in his short career. He may just be getting tired, and with that Chicago offense, neither of these next two games in Wrigley are locks for the Mets.

I love the position we're in but will not be comfortable until there are 4 W's. If we lose game three, then we've got Lester and Arrieta back to back in Chicago and then this thing is likely going 7.

Still need some other Mets hitters to get going.

Negative Nellie?? Hahaha..that's nothing....try Donnie Downer.
Although most of us knew this was gonna probably happen, just not sure why it couldn't wait and needed to come out now....:L

REPORT: MURPHY NOT IN METS FUTURE PLANS
Despite his red hot postseason play, the Mets do not plan to bring back 2B Daniel Murphy next season, two team sources told the NY Daily News. "He's been great, really great. But it changes nothing," a source told the paper. Murphy has a home run in four straight games, and is hitting .357 in the postseason.

and btw: who the efff are these "sources" anyhow??

I agree, he put a perfect swing on that ball, his bat speed is absolutely electric right now and he deserves to be getting the Barry Bonds treatment. Flat out on fire. If he were batting .200 with 0 homeruns then I might say it was luck, but he's clearly on his A game.

Most lefty hitters like it down and in. Saying it was "luck" doesn't ring true to me. Dude has 5 post season homers and is pretty locked in.

Yes. Lefties like it down and in. They can turn on that ball. This was not that case. It was a one armed golf shot.

Also, I was responding to the person who said Arrieta made a mistake. He did not.

It was s good defensive homer. Arrieta did nothing but pitch and extremely good pitch and fool a batter who had the skills to defend it off.

Bro...

Stop.

How the hell does a pitcher "fool" a batter who takes him yard?

when the guy's knees get buckled and he has to take one hand off the bat... there's much luck in baseball... this was an example... the guy did his best to defend his at-bat [and that IS to his credit], but let's not pretend like he wasn't fooled and that he wasn't fighting for his life to get lucky to put wood on that pitch.

no. "appeal to the masses" is a logical fallacy that I do not employ... unlike many here.
