Prince's number in the 2nd half have been horrid.

His batting average has dropped 32 points. OBP has dropped 24 points. Slugging has dropped 59 points.

Here are his stats for the 2nd half:
.250/.336/.348
4HR, 19RBI, 21BB, 26K
I knew his power numbers were way down. He really could use a break now and then against LHers plus get back to trying to hit it where they ain't instead of trying to hit it out. He started off the season with that approach.

Jamey Newberg suggested this morning that the Rangers might want to see what it would take to acquire Marlon Byrd to help us against lefties through the end of the season.

He's been hitting pretty well for the Giants since they acquired him, and he would be a massive upgrade over the likes of Stubbs and Strausborger, so I'd be all for it.

Plus, can you imagine both Byrd and Napoli in the same lineup at home games? The fans would go nuts, getting to do both the bird wings flap and the "na-po-li" chant.

He was doing very well for the Giants when I last checked a few weeks ago but not sure how he has done lately. I always liked the guy when he was with the Rangers.

He is going to have his good streaks and his bad streaks. The older he gets the longer the bad streaks will last. I would think his numbers will slip again next year.
If you have the time and means, compare video of his swing back in May vs. what it looks like now. The difference is extremely noticeable... what used to be a nice and smooth level swing with his arms following through and getting full extension has morphed into this violent and jerky uppercut swing, like he's pressing way too hard to hit HR's.

That was what I was alluding to earlier today in that he needs the approach from earlier in the season where he was just trying to get base hit instead of HRs. I am not sure the purpose of coaches sometimes because you would think they would try to get him righted in regards to that.

I know it's been long discussed here about how much the Cowboys rule this town.

But the Ticket announced this morning that all day on Sunday will be wall-to-wall Cowboys. Is this ridiculous or what?

No discussion of the college football results, no sense in making any time for a baseball team out in Arlington of course. And this from a station which isn't affiliated with the Cowboys.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was wall to wall beginning in the afternoon, but I don't understand doing that in the morning since it is a Sunday night game. That is definitely overkill, but then I don't agree with a lot of things about The Ticket.

I don't agree with it but do understand. Cowboys since 1960 and five superbowls vs Rangers 1972 and no World Series. The Cowboy fans had a twelve year start and somehow that established a loyalty with some.

I think it has more to do with this being a football crazed state. For many years the loudest cheer at the ballpark was the Dot Race. The fans knew very little about baseball. To them it was watching a guy throw a ball to a catcher and another guy trying to hit it and it was boring.

I will give you another example. My dad was in the Air Force. At the end of my sophomore year we moved from Cape Cod to San Antonio. That was on April 1, 1969. I had been an All Star 3rd baseman in Hawaii and then in Cape Cod. So my first question was when does baseball start. They said we do not have a baseball team because we want everyone to participate in track and be ready for the football season. Our basketball team could not practice until football was over. Their first practice was the day of their first game. To top it off I was ineligible my first year (Junior year) to play varsity sports because that was the rule in Texas. So I played on a team with guys from Converse Judson and Schertz Clemens. That was quite a shocker.

Nick Williams and Lewis Brinson were also named to their level's AS team by Baseball America.

Agree Wasting. Little league vs peewee football is about even. High school and college football dominates over baseball. It's just a Texas thing that football is supported more. Personally I love them both equally but basketball and hockey not at all.

Not exactly an encouraging start.
