Yes. I agree. I stand by my original statement though. I think Dan is giving Jay a show me year. Show me why I shouldn't fire you. Show me why I'm wrong about RG and you are right. If Cousins performs, they cut RG after the season or midway through. If not Jay and Cousins are run out of here and Dan finds a guy (Bevel) to fit RG'S skill set. If RG still insist on not running that type of system, Scot gets the ok to cut RG and draft a QB.

I still think this concussion things stinks to the high heavens, but I find it more unsettling that Gruden, if I am right would have to go though all of this just to get the guy he wants in there.
I agree gruden is on a short leash. But I think Griffin is gone. It's just a matter of time. They are trying to trade him, but if they can't find a partner, they will release him after the trade deadline passes. I just cannot see him suiting up for another game with that contract guarantee for next year. Even if he gets better as a QB, it's just a matter of a few games before he gets hurt. He is a china doll out there that instinctively cannot protect himself. This, more than any other reason, is why I believe he will never succeed in this league.

Oh, BTW, dan doesn't fire coaches, he attempts to makes the environment so toxic that they quit. He will owe a boatload of money to gruden if he fires him.

J_y as I read your response something that has been bugging me for a minute came to mind. Here's my question, if there's no way that Griffin stays, or for that matter remains in the plan, why do you suppose Gruden is taking so long to name McCoy his #2?

Maybe I missed that announcement, just did a quick search and got nada. Anyway, last I heard no decision was going to be made until Griffin is cleared.

I thought a depth chart was released a few days ago and colt was #2. In any event, maybe he is attempting to normalize the position? After all, he doesn't formally announce #2s at every position, he just releases a depth chart before each game.

Depth chart is out, but Gruden did say in his last presser that there is no point in naming a number 2 until RG'S results come in. I expect RG to be inactive all season. We'll see.

Few points of clarification

The neurologist Kurtzke is resigning his post as an NFL consultant but is supposedly still involved with Griffins case.

Gruden said yesterday he expected the written report soon (as soon as last night, tho I've seen nothing yet) and that a QB2 would be determined at that time. So Colt as 2 may change before Sunday and may not.

It is crazy for them to list Robert as #2 and risk an injury that will kick in the extension.

Gruden has the verbal, but said he won't announce anything till he gets it in writing.

Not necessarily Gruden. There are 3 other candidates.

Look I'm not a conspiracy theory guy, I'm really not. But you have to admit this was awful convenient timing. And again look at Griffin's comment where he clearly didn't acknowledge that he had a concussion, he said ask the guys who are saying he had one. I would think he of all people would know if he was told he had one or he did not.

well if you have 4 people i would put gruden and SM in one camp and allen and snyder in the other

I don't think you can lose your license for erring on the side of caution. Why is he stepping down? I am not saying I know this for fact. This is definitely just my opinion. The timing, the lack of contact on the play and the fact that we still have no answers heading into the third week of this ordeal. Getting cleared and then saying well never mind, scratch that. From cleared to a 3 week concussion. I'm just not buying it. But I'm more focused on Sunday at this point. Just ready to see what we have.

KB , the title of your post says "alleged concussion " not" err on the side of caution concussion " i said the CSI stuff is nonsense . no dr is going to lose his license falsifying medical documents no one in the skins organization who wants KC as starter has any real clout to do what you are saying .

the truth is the dr is erring on the side of caution and this is roberts 3rd known concussion.

nothing sinister here

anyone saying there is some kind of shenanigans going on has simply failed to understand the concussion protocol used by the NFL .

anyone know a lions RB javid best ? he got a concussion and could never pass the protocol hence he retired . he had 3 known ones just like 3

reed missed 6 games his rookie year from being concussed (i believe)

I hear you Dad. I just did not see anything in that Lions game that looked to me to cause a 3 week concussion. The fact he was cleared and then uncleared has to raise a red flag of suspicion, especially since Gruden didn't even wait for him to get cleared before he benched him.

I will not pretend to know the specifics, but this doctor's rep and the people that are under him are shaky at best. I just feel, and always will that the doctor was told to err in the side of caution to buy Gruden some time to see Cousins with the 1's.

Now he is stepping down but remaining on the RG case. Interesting. This is the same thing as Andrews saying RG was healthy during the Seahawks game and was good to go after he tweaked it. Then declaring him ready to go for week 1. Doctors get pressured all the time from NFL teams to give a desired result. This stuff happens.

Seems to me not naming McCoy as #2 is problematic. If there are no plans to play Griffin, he hasn't been given written clearance, yet no official word that Colt is the backup? Why? Seems to be a no brainer if the premises are correct.

The difference is that Andrews is an employee of snyder. The Redskins can have no contact with the independent doctor. All communication goes through the league.

Who is the official back up to Perry Riley? Jason Hatcher? Scherff? Garçon? None of those backups have officially been announced.....is that problematic? He does not have to release a depth chart until the morning of the game. Why not try and treat this position like every other position on the team?
Sty, I think you are reading too much into it. My guess is it's grudens attempt to try and bring some normalcy and control back to these things. Colt is going to be the #2 for this game at least and my bet for the foreseeable future. If I am wrong (which happens) then there are some hi jinx in the works and Danny is back calling the shots over our new GM and HC.
