Rg3 and 1st team o/line were awful smith should be cut

thompson had some good runs as did williams and he picked up the blitz's well

the Tes showed well but didnt get enough action

tackling is an issue still

the 1st team offense didnt look ready to play football

too many penalties

At this point, I would call the team dysfunctional. Playing Griffin without Williams was just plain stupid but I guess you wouldn't expect Smith to be that bad. I am really questioning Gruden's leadership and it seems the team is not responding to him at all. Looks like last year all over again. Mr. Impatient is not going to like the direction the team is heading in right now...

On the play Rg3 got hurt it was on RG3. He had good pass protection but he ran out of the pocket dropping the ball and causing his injury. He has no pocket awareness at all. KC looked great. I know its against the backups but his poise and pocket presence is so much better than RG3. KC has outplayed Rg3 in pre-season so far but Rg3 is handed the starting QB position so we just have to take it. Even the post game wants an open starting QB competition.

All the Rb's did well. Good pressure by the d-line. Ross should make this team. The guy makes plays. I like him better than Spencer.

Please explain how Griffin took a step back Dad? Yes, the fumble was self inflicted but the brutal beating would have anyone named Brady, Manning or any other QB rattled. But of course those offensive lines are not garbage like ours. Our coaching staff should be embarrassed after this performance tonight. We have some serious issues up front. Quit putting this on Griffin like every other media outlet.

The play the Rg3 got hurt on was all on RG3. Don't even blame the oline for that one.

Please don't take this as trolling. I only got to see the replays, and by those replays I don't think you can fairly say how RG played, the Detroit Dline beat the hell out of Washington's OL.

I still haven't seen the game NFLN is televising it at 9pm, but once again Griffin's mouth wrote a check his body/performance couldn't cash. 2/5 for 8 yards, 3 sacks, fumble, and yet more knowledge knots via a concussion this time, that he refuses to heed due to his own hardheaded-ness.

He's still a triflin, self-deluded clown. The Skins should do themselves a favor and cut bait with his ass right now. The sooner they do it, the better off they'll be.

Just saw the play he was injured on. Another vintage RG31 play no question.

Washington Redskins wanted more progress, they got an injured RG III instead — espn.go.com — Readability

Excerpt

John Keim, ESPN Staff Writer

LANDOVER, Md. -- The Washington Redskins hoped to see more progress from Robert Griffin III. Instead, what they saw was a quarterback being pummeled and then leaving the game with an injury. And now what they have to see are question marks.

It's not just about Griffin's health, either. It's about much more, and that's the troubling part. For all the talk of progress, we're back at a familiar point, wondering about Griffin's ability and his future.

Let's make this really clear: The protection was bad Thursday in the Redskins' 21-17 preseason win over the Detroit Lions. Really bad. It did not help that left tackle Trent Williams missed the game, resting a sore knee. His replacement, Willie Smith, probably won't make the roster -- not everything was his fault, but it was a struggle.

Rookie right guard Brandon Scherff, the fifth overall pick, was driven back and allowed a sack. His run blocking is coming along nicely; he's still adapting to the quickness of NFL pass-rushers. That's understandable.

Robert Griffin III was sacked three times in about just one quarter of play. AP Photo/Alex Brandon
Griffin had little chance and is just not equipped to operate in a situation that demands even faster reads and the ability to feel pressure and slide away. He dropped back to pass eight times and was hit on six of those attempts while being sacked three times. That's what you call a total meltdown and an all-around effort of futility.

The protection needed to be much better. But good quarterback play is about helping yourself as well. Griffin is still learning to handle life in the pocket and that means he'll step into pressure too often, as he did on a couple of occasions. On a second-and-12 in the second quarter, Smith was driven back but there was room for Griffin to slide right. Instead, he took off running into the pressure and was drilled.

Again, this is not all on Griffin. But if there are issues up front, then it compounds the learning curve he's enduring. They need to stay in positive down and distances for it to work as he tries to develop his game.
