Just reading that G/C prospect and UNH alum Mike Coccia also has experience as a long snapper. I gotta say, in these limited 53 man rosters where the coaches talk about the need for player versatility and the like, it seems kind of silly that teams routinely dedicate a roster position to a Long Snapper.
But let me ask...Perhaps the Long Snapper is spending so much time working with the Punter and Placekicker, that they don't have time to do the reps necessary to play Guard or Center as well? And what if your Long Snapper was pressed into duty at Center? Would the mechanics of switching from one type of snap to the other be just difficult enough to make that a problem as well?
