I really cant complain. I think its the wrong time to draft an OG/RT but you know we drafted a monster so Ill be alright.

Don't rule out a trade down in the 2nd round for multiple picks and we select an OT with our extra pick. Scherff at Guard still possible...

Maybe, but maybe Scherff was his guy the whole time.
This. A lot of his comments suggested Scherff is exactly the type of player he likes.

Nobody is wrong or right. Everyone would love to have had him, but there was a question of when. If he's picked this high, let's hope he can play OT because we've got ZERO answer for that position right now.

then why all the history lessons and 5th and 9th stuff ? is he a OG or RT ? we spent weeks debating this and now no one is the winner ? i was mocked about saying i knew as much about football as the experts and gthey pick the guy i said they should and no one is the winner ?

wasted pick if he is only a guard

Certainly not a waste. If he's a guard, he will be a cornerstone (and perennial Pro-Bowler) of our o-line for years. The issue is value when we took him. I'll be much more satisfied when/if we get an OT. But he may be footing that position for us. That would seem to make sense given the fact that we're keeping around Chester and all the votes of confidence supporting his tenure here.

Huh? Look at my exchange with shark this afternoon regarding putting his opinion on the same level as McCloughan's. Everyone has an opinion as do I. But I won't ever pretend to say that my opinion is as good as someone like McCloughan, who's earned the reputation as the top GM in the business.

Any word what position he'll be playing? I'm sure it won't be center.
Not yet. But SM has to believe he is super versatile. More so, then I knew. Never heard the Center thing before.

That's true, but the question is whether he can play that position. He had pass pro issues. Hopefully, if he plays RT, Callahan can coach him up on that.

his pass protection wasn't a major issue and they were projecting that at Left Tackle

That's true. A lot of the knocks on Scherff were based on his play as a LT. However, it takes some doing to adjust to RT. Let's put it this way, I'm glad we got Callahan to coach him.
