He is showing some ignorance with that statement. There have been several. That sort of tarnishes his opinion.

What he actually said was ... "Signing Yu Darvish: Gives club ace it hasn’t had since Fergie Jenkins."

Since Jenkins (6 years, 3.56ERA, CYA-2, 6, MVP-5) there have been a few others ... Bobby Witt (11 years, 4.85ERA), Nolan Ryan (5 years, 3.43ERA, AS, CYA-5, MVP-23, 25) and perhaps Kenny Rodgers (12 years, 4.16ERA, 3AS). (Vicente Padilla?, Kevin Millwood? -- nah)

Witt and Rodgers spent most of their career with TEX; however, Jenkins and Ryan while revered by TEX fans made their names elsewhere. The average baseball fan considers Jenkins a Cub and Ryan an Angel or Astro.

Yu (3 years, 3.27, 3AS, ROY-3, CYA-2, 9, MVP-22) ... when all his games are played is on track to have the best career and will be known as a Ranger.

Being measured against Jenkins (or Ryan) is pretty awesome when you consider when Yu returns and is back on his game is likely to be even more devastating than he was in 2013. So ... could be first Ace since Jenkins or Ryan ... but not a stretch that Darvish may turn out better than both.
