I would trust Scot if he did that. But right now, that looks like another Vinny move. Really, dude.

Let's make a bet on Scherff being selected at five. If he does, I'll put the pic of Vinny as my avatar for a week. If he doesn't, you do it.

Deal?

Why would I make a bet that the Redskins wont do something I expect them to do. I have never disagreed that we probably wont trade down. I have simply stated that in this instance I think its a mistake and one we will look back on in years to come the same way we looked at other missed opportunities.

As much as Im against it, I expect them to trade down. I fully expect our first round pick will be a Pass Rusher or WR. I suspect our second rounder will be which ever of those two we didnt take in the first. And we will use the 3rd rounder and the extra 3rd on O-lineman for "the future". And next year this time we will be discussing the merits of a QB and IF one of the thousand third round O-lineman we have will finally become a good starter.

Given SM's success in the draft, particularly mid and late round picks, why wouldn't we want him to have as many bullets as possible? So'Shark does not like this idea, feeling they will end up with a lesser player with the first pick. Yet he is pimping a lesser rated player at 5 to fill an immediate need. I know I know, you feel as if he is the 5th best player in this draft. The only people who agree with that assessment are Dad and Sherff's mother.

Fine. have as many bullets as possible. But trade back in the 2nd, 3rd or where ever else. And if you look at his track record, Scot has rarely traded back in the first round for all you that are pimping this model.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. You forgot to add Vinny Cerrato. :)

SM has made moves that are best under the circumstances. Sometimes, that means trading up. Here, the best play is to trade down. And that's what the chatter is right now.

i am not going to make any stupid bets , OK it proves nothing .

everyone thinks the trade down will come at 5 . it may not . i have herd rumors it will come in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and SM himself has said that as well

i dont see a guy in this draft , at 5 that is a must have . so i have doubts a trade will be available

I don't think a trade will happen @ 5 unless SM really likes the deal. He not just going to trade down for the sake of trading down.

That said, I can see lots of ways a trade down at 5 could happen.

Again, it's not who you (or I or anyone else) see(s) that counts. It what 31 other GMs see that's the issue here. And based on all the chatter we've heard, someone will be gunning to get into the top five. To me, I'm not convinced that anyone is really worthy of a top five pick. Couple that with the many needs we've got and SM at the helm to pick gems in the draft, I'd love to see a smart trade down.
