No worries, if Bradford doesn't work out and the worst happens again with him, RGIII will be Chip's next reclamation project. I think he's done in Washington after this year, and he fits the profile - ACL injuries and all. :D

It'll all a gamble. How many teams are practically dead in the water if the starting qb goes down? It makes resigning Sanchez that much more critical.

After the run of luck he's had, I can't say I would blame him.

I liked Foles well enough but it's not like he's ironman either.

I am surprised it took so long to report this. I picked up on this at Bradfords press conference. This is why any projections I do for this team this year has Sanchez at QB. There is just so much both mentally and physically Bradford has to overcome plus he has to learn a new offense.

Coming to a new exciting team instantly fixes any of that. And physically Chip gives zero fucks about ACLs. The Doctors said he's good, so he's good.

It sounds like it was actually reported last year out of St. Louis, but that it is only just now getting reported by the Philly reporters after the trade.

I have a sick feeling we got worked over hard on this trade by Jeff Fisher.

The Doctors didnt say he was good, because he isnt good, he cant play as of today. They feel he will make a recovery but will and is recovered are two different things. They thought he was recovered last year when he tore it again second time in 9 months. Chip should give a fuck about ACLS especially ones that are torn twice in 9 months.

Look I hope Bradford plays great and we win a Super Bowl with him. However I dont deal in Coach rose color glasses. I look at the history of these injuries and I am not talking about a singular ACl tear like Maclin or Kelce had. Even though Maclin tore his before he had five years to gain strength back in that leg. Bradford tore his ACL twice in a 9 month span. That is a huge red flag. His recovery time will be longer than the first one. There is a good chance this guy never sees the field again. Like I said I hope Chip is right on this one but history says the chances are very slim that he is right.

Unlikely. ...I think someone as thorough as Chip seems to be didn't go into this without doing some digging on the guy he traded for. Shurmur probably knows Bradford better than most.

You care about the history of it, because that is all you have to look at. Kelly cares a whole lot more about what the doctors say, because its what really matters and he has direct access to it. You have to figure that the doctors are pretty optimistic. Without that, Bradford would not have been tradeable and in all likelihood would have retired.

Remember Bradford was the last of the huge 1st pick contracts before the new CBA kicked in. The guy is already wealthy beyond all need and doesn't need to play football for the money. If Bradford felt that he was taking a huge risk by coming back, I don't see why he would. The doctors must be telling Bradford and everyone else that they expect him to make a 100% recovery.

This is true Sam was open with this in a press conference a long time ago. so I'm sure the Eagles knew this. Don't really see the big deal if he blows out his knee again he is going to retire but why would you want him back anyway.

Chip basically put our whole franchise on black on the roulette table.

This is so over the top dramatic. Chip gave them Foles and a 2nd rounder. In his mind, Foles is no better than Sanchez, so there really is little downside. If Bradford doesn't pan out, they still have Sanchez, so the downside risk is minimized and they have the upside that a healthy Bradford will be better. putting "our whole franchise on black on the roulette table" would be a move like trading several first rounders for Mariota. This is the smarter play.

So, trading for a twice-injured QB not yet recovered from an ACL tear, who has never been that great when healthy, is a lower risk than drafting a healthy rookie QB from Oregon who has run a similar offense to what Chip runs?

If Bradford flops I don't think having sanchez as your starting qb is going to get you anywhere. In fact it's probably a step backwards from foles as your starting qb.

You are missing attributes like "amazing passer" for Bradford, and "not an amazing passer" for Mariota in your description above.

Anytime you are essentially trading your backup QB and a 2nd rounder for a player, it may be a risk, but its far from risking the franchise. The trades for Mariota that have been discussed which essentially boil down to three first rounders + for Mariota are high risk and arguably would deserve the hyperbole you are aplying to the Bradford trade. Kelly is simply not risking that much on Bradford.

Foles was the backup qb? HMMMMMM? I recall him starting the first 8 games but I must be thinking of some other team.
