It wasn't Fox's fault Manning injured his hip & couldn't put all of his weight into his throws. The blame for that goes to the Chargers.

He gets blame because over and over again he has shown he does not prepare his team for the big games. Great example is the Broncos before the Super Bowl didn't hardly train for it to be cold even though they knew the game was in New York and then they didn't prepare for having to deal with all the noise causing the very first snap to go flying over Manning's head and the offense looking rattled from there on out. He gets the blame because for the final 6 games of the season Elway finally had to come sit down Gase and Fox and tell them how to actually run an NFL offense. They didn't know that the run game should be a part of it and Gase at the end of the meeting asked Elway if he was telling him to run every single play no matter what? That doesn't scream a guy that knows what he is doing.

Again the guy is great at taking a bad team and getting them back on the right track. I fully expect him in Chicago to help get them back on track and competing. The issue becomes can he help a team win the big game and so far in his career he has shown he struggles when the lights are brightest.

It was his fault they were completely unprepared the previous year against Seattle.

How was he supposed to prepare a team of offensive players who after the first time they were hit, looked like they didn't want to take another one? The NFC title game was the Super Bowl. The 49ers would have beaten the Broncos as well.

Your Bronco hate is strong...Fox flat out came out after the Super Bowl and said he didn't do a good enough job preparing his team for all that would happen in that game. The other part of that is they never made adjustments during the game. One of the greatest position coaches in NFL history actually quit right after the Super Bowl because Fox and Gase refused to listen to him of how to make adjustments to better help the team get back on track. Instead they decided to stick with the same thing over and over again thinking it would bring different results.

See the post just before mine.

Unprepared for weather.

Unprepared for noise.

No game plan like the Pats had one year later.

He possessed a record breaking offense.

And still, Fox fell flat on his face in that one.

Again, it's my opinion. The talent on those USC teams and Seattle teams didn't exactly require coach of the year type production. I still remember the clueless guy trying to run the Jets, but most have looked clueless trying to run the Jets...and yes, I know that BB struggled in Cle. I just really don't think Carroll is a good coach. It's kind of an impossible and meaningless comparison when you look at the fact that some of the top coaches listed were fired somewhere along the line...

LOL big time LOL. Yeah Carroll just lucked into this Seattle team...He just is incredibly lucky that pro bowl secondary players grow on trees up here in seattle, nothing he did had anything to do with that.... my god what a moron you are.

You want to criticize about the 2nd and 1 call. Good, i do to. But dont you ignore the fact he did the supposedly impossible get a team to back to back superbowls in todays nfl

As I said, those two made a deal with the devil to win those SB's. Flukiest SB champs ever not only once but even flukier the 2nd time around. That 2011 team wasn't even a good NFL team.
I don't care if you think they were fluky or not. It takes luck to win a Super Bowl as evidenced by the Patriots win over the Seahawks.

Carroll didn't do anything special. It's not hard to get to b2b SBs when your team is so badass. Don't believe me? It'll be even more obvious when Seattle is back there again how great the team is. Gotta be the luckiest guy on earth.... can't believe NFL teams are hiring his coordinators to be head coaches.

Fox is a really solid coach, really solid. I'm not sure about great but he's very good where-ever he goes. Chicago will be a much better team because of him,.

He's not One of the best coaches IMO. Sorry that you can't deal with it like you can't deal with anything anti-Seatttle.

I can deal fine with anti seattle if its based on any facts or tangible evidence....."he just got lucky at usc and seattle" does not provide either

So lucky that the rest of the league is falling over temselves copying the way he does things

The 2011 Patriots were not a good football team. I was ecstatic they made it to the SB.

Seems like you're having a tough time dealing with Seattle/Carroll being on top. Where would you put him in the 1-32 ranking?

Why because I don't think he is one the best coaches in the league? Why is it I can't just think that without it being agenda driven? Stop defending the flag on one point EVER and you will have more credibility.

I don't really care about the ranking. Like I said it's a stupid BS March article. Many of the "top" guys have been fired from other locations. It's teh cyclical nature of being a HC. So if the same article was written a few years ago it would be totally different and next year it will be totally different again. BB is head and shoulders the best coach in the league right now and no one esle is even close. After that there are probably about 6 or 7 guys I personally think are really good coaches, but ranking them is kind of silly IMO and no, Carroll isn't one of them...

4. Tom Coughlin, New York Giants -- His past two years haven't been good, but he has the two Super Bowl rings and has a 12-7 playoff record and seven 10-win seasons. He has five division titles, two with Jacksonville and three with the Giants. He faces a big challenge this season coming off a 6-10 record, his worst since 2004.

Even though he has won two super bowls, I don't think Coughlin deserves to be this high on the list... It seems that at the end of every season, he is on the so-called "hot-seat".

Care to explain why you think that. How is a coach that won national championships in college, MADE the transition to the NFL and just got hiis team to back to back superbowls Not a really good coach? ??

It seems like he is taking into account the overall record for each coach more highly than what they have done of late. It seems to me that it would be more accurate to rank their work in the last 5 years only but probably it is real close to the same results. I thought John Fox should have been higher. Jim Harbaugh should have been mentioned if not ranked.

So since the rankings change every so often then there's no sense talking about it? WTF kind of conversations do you like then -- discuss the alphabetical order of the 50 states? Damn lighten up.

I was asked my opinion on where I would put him and thats why I said that. Read a little. It could help...

There is more to winning than any one person. I thought they won because of their defense, no because of Wilson, now because of Carroll? So the next thread is about punters and you use the same reasoning to say he's the best in the league too? I go by what I see and Carroll has never impressed me. Those USC teams were friggin loaded. He was an amazing recruiter, but that's not the topic and If anything he underperformed with some of those teams and left them with sanctions that they haven't recovered from. Seattle won with a great defense. If you are saying Carroll is the one that picked all those players he can be ranked highly in the next GM thread, but a differently thread from a while back Schneider was getting that credit. You guys will defend any anti-Seattle comment like your life was threatened. I don't think he is a very good coach. Deal with it. He is a good players coach, but that's not everything.
