^^^ Gandy, I could never have stated better. It really does come down to "who they sign" should they lose Suh and how those players signed perform in the future.
Absolutely spot on. We can't sign a guy that doesnt wanna be here, and Mayhew said that he wasn't planning on signing him "at any cost". Tagging him would've put a huge financial hit on us this year, and to a guy that didn't want to be here if he didn't sign an extension.
I dont predict who they will sign. I state who I'd LIKE to see come, but there are multiple reasons why players sign or don't sign with a team. Pleasing Rob base isn't one of them.Try to remember this when you start predicting the Lions will sign Revis, Ngata, Hardy or anyone else good in FA.

Suh had no choice on who drafted him. But at this point in his career, he has the choice of where to go. Maybe he hates the dirt ass city that is Detroit? Maybe he hates the cold? Maybe he hates Austin? Maybe he just wants to sign with a west coast team?
The point is, you, nor anyone outside of Suh and anyone he has told, knows why he will sign where he does. And signing with Detroit isn't even off the table. They have a week to work a deal before he tests FA. Either way, there are other options at DT out there that won't break the bank.
Not happy, but it takes two to tango. Suh either signs at market pricing or he doesn't. Can't compare tagging guys who came in on the rookie salary scale or at much more reasonable numbers to this situation.
It's been said before that tagging Suh was never really an option because it would be fiscal insanity and that position appears to be true and to always have been true.
You also predicted they'd sign Revis and Ngata. Now let's see if that's true too.
Bizarre that this regime felt SOOOOO confident a deal would get done. They probably feel this way about everything they do. The confidence was oozing when they traded up for Best, Leshoure, drafted Broyles, and Titus etc...great news is that same drunken confidence will be there in April when they do it all over again.

Money may be why he is leaving. Endorsement money will be bigger elsewhere as articles stated during the season. I can just get on board with saying it is all Mayhew's fault. we prolly never find out why either, as most athletes do not speak out and management never does.
Money not spent on Suh can bring other guys in. Might have to overpay which I will not like, but the almighty dollar speaks to other FAs just as it seems to be to Suh.
lower left-hand side of the post. Looks like a pencil. How the fuck do you edit now.
I get all that but any other team would have figured out over the past 5 years how to keep him. Guys like Suh don't often leave for FA. The whole entire thing is a fiasco.
And why trust this regime to spend well and draft well? These are the same guys who felt sooooooooo confident in a long term deal. Reports say they STILL do. IMBECILES. It's this kind of mind set that got us Ebron instead of Donald.
I'll just wait until they're wall fired. Should take more than a year or two .
Suhs tag amount is Mayhews fault. Not 2010's.
Or its Reggie Bush's fault, but Mayhew cut him, so we can stick with blaming Mayhew.
I liked 2010. I can't stand here idly by while you drag it's good name thru the mud like that.

Id compliment him if he were to resign. (Not re-resign, but resign. Im not even sure if "re-sign" is a word. But it's not what I want Mayhew to do.)Actually it is Suh's moms fault, which means his dad's fault. Had they had him a year later he would have left the Cornhuskers a year later when the rookie contracts were different. So maybe it is 2011's fault.
For the record I am not defending MM or Lewand as stated the kicking the can caused this... I just do not slam them for every mistake. However the ones that do never compliment any of the good moves.
