That would be nice! There actually has been some talk that Manning wouldn't mind being paired up with Shanahan as he has always like his offensive genius. Not sure Elway and Shanahan could function well together though. Hard to have the guy that was under you then all of a sudden being your boss.

So, we have Gary Kubiak, Adam Gase, Doug Marrone and Vance Joseph as candidates so far. Seems like everyone is picking Kubiak as the heavy favorite. I still wonder if the Broncos might be waiting to talk to Quinn as well. Vance Joseph seems to be their Rooney rule candidate but he did play at the University of Colorado and worked under Kubiak in Houston, so he might also be a DC candidate if Kubiak takes the HC job. Kubiak is still my number one choice but I'm very intrigued by Quinn.

I read a report that said Vance Joseph may be Kubiak's choice for Defensive Coordinator if he gets the job as Head Coach. Also read that Rick Dennison might come along with Kubiak as the OC.......

Austin has said Gase is is #1 choice as OC if he gets the Falcons job.

I love the idea of having some Bronco Championship pedigree on the sidelines.

Yeah BroncoInCAli I actually think the idea of bringing in Vance Joseph is not just to satisfy the Rooney rule but also for Elway to get a look at who might be coaching up the defense and see what his plan is for the defense.

My guess right now (rumor has it that Elway realizes that if the Seahawks make the Super Bowl he cannot wait for Quinn as all the good coordinators would be taken by then) is that Kubiak is the next Bronco Head Coach. He and Elway have worked well in the past together, fits the bill of a coach with Super Bowl experience (coached the Broncos when we won our Super Bowls), and would be one that can bring some decent coordinators along with him.

I think then our OC will be Rick Dennison. He had that role when with the Texans under Kubiak and during that span were one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL and especially one of the best running teams during that span.

DC as you said BroncoInCali looks like Vance Joseph will get some major consideration. People have been saying this guy is a rising star among positional coaches so getting him now could give us a great new mind to the game. He has Colorado roots and looks like a nice choice to lead this defense.

Now just a couple of other names to throw out there for Coordinator positions but Kyle Shanahan is being considered as he also has worked with Kubiak before and for the defensive side of the ball would be Wade Philips. He took the Houston defense that was ranked 30th overall in 2010 to 2nd overall in 2011.

I want to throw out one more thing about this idea of Kubiak being the leading choice. I honestly think if he is hired then Manning is not coming back. Manning is about the worst fitting quarterback for his system while Osweiler fits perfectly. To me it just makes sense to start the next great coach in Bronco history with the quarterback that fits his system and just see what those two can do together.

I also suspect that Kubiak is the front runner and that PM is a poor fit for Kubiak's offense. Hard for me to imagine Elway telling Manning that he's not welcome to return, though.

Smarter football people than me know the answer to this one:

Could Kubiak tweak his offense to fit Manning, and then turn it over in full force to Oz (or whomever is the future QB) a season or two down the road? I remember TJ Yates putting up decent numbers in Kubiak's system when he played in place of Schaub, and he doesn't strike me as the most mobile QB around.

Just a thought......

I'd hope Kubiak was talented and flexible enough to change the offense to take advantage of Manning's strengths.

This is why. He had experience with something similar.

Familiarity with Texans offense led to Yates' selection - Houston Houston Texans | Examiner.com

When asked to expand on the similarities, Yates said: “It’s kind of hard to put it in generic terms, but just the route patterns and the passing schemes and everything. It’s very similar. We took a lot of what the Texans did last year and a couple years ago and implemented (it) into our offense and kind of made it our own way. We based a lot (of our offense on) the Texans.”

I also heard that Joseph is getting more attention lately and the "rising star" label thruout the league. If Denver signs Kubiack and Wade follows along with Joseph, I would be pretty excited about major improvements on both sides of the ball for the team. Not a long shot IMO except maybe getting Joseph to tag along if Wade gets DC. We should find out pretty quick I believe Sunday nite or soon after regarding Kubs at least

Nice article.....thanks for posting that.

It will be interesting to see what happens, cause I have had a gut feeling since the moment we let Fox and Company go that it was going to be Kubiak.

To be honest, I'm holding out hope for Dan Quinn. If there's anybody that I feel can handle the pressure of being saddled with Super Bowl aspirations, it would be Quinn. That way Gase could stick around as offensive coordinator and run the offense.

If I remember rightly, Manning did roll out from time to time to avoid pressure...... Food for thought.

According to this both Marrone and Austin canceled their interviews with Denver because it's so widely believed that Kubiak will get the job.

Gary Kubiak leading head coach candidate for Broncos; Doug Marrone, Teryl Austin cancel interviews - The Denver Post

Also seems that there are good chances that Dennison and Joseph will be the new OC and DC, respectively.

Been hearing pretty much the same thing. It makes complete sense. Elway and Kubiak are really good friends and my guess is they have discussed many times what it takes to build a championship caliber team. Heck they have both been a part of one.

I also like that combination with Dennison and Joseph. I keep reading lots of good things about Joseph especially and Dennison already has a great background as an OC. Heck under Kubiak and Dennison they had Jake Plummer have his best season as a pro in 2005 with the Broncos then Schaub was a 2-time pro bowl quarterback who can't even hardly find work now without him. I'm very interested to see what they can do with a guy like Osweiler.

Fox was a good coach but too many times it seemed like he was playing not to lose rather than playing to win so I hope whoever we choose as our next HC is a little more aggressive. Not like Ron Rivera aggressive but more than Fox.

You want aggressive? Let's hire Les Myles.
