Wide receiver (along with O Line) is probably the most difficult to evaluate position for scouts. The passing game is much more rudimentary in high school and if you look through the list of top receivers every season, the top 5 or 6 usually stick, but there are a plethora of guys ranked well below the top 75 that stick as well.

I have not seen Asante or Knowles, but there star ranking does not concern me. I want to see what Sherman can do with them and see what comes of it. We need to bring in more guys, for sure, but what we have may well develop as many before have.

Yea he's a NSD kid. People took one little thing and thought he meant he could announce now. I think the idea around him now, though, is that he's made up his mind and is just waiting till later to announce.

Kirven who the hell knows when he'll do it and same with Ekanem. If they all wait till NSD there's no telling what will happen because our staff generally lacks a killer instinct.

Going to get really ugly if Caleb or Kirven head elsewhere. Neither are even sure-things at their position but we've been on them all year and considered the prohibitive favorites for both so failure to get either would be a huge blow.

Hopefully Shane has brought his SEC attitude into the staff and it'll pay off on NSD for once this year instead of VT taking it on the chin.

BTW, back to the 2012 recruits, I think I saw, and re-tweeted that Joel Caleb is announcing on Feb. 1? I was drunk last night though. :L

Yes he will.

And you were pounding some Mikes Hard Pink Lemonade weren't you.

Little early right now. Lockhart really fucked us over. I imagine by midweek there will be something out. As to whom, I honestly don't have the slightest idea or info.

It has been moved to the rant thread....have at it over there...

Now, I do agree that Deloatch will get a full offer now and Caleb is a very VERY important prospect for us right now.

Great video on Deloatch 46 and EGW. He looks like an above average prospect and I am still surprised that he hasnt had more interest. A bigger guy who didn't look like to me had top end speed, but still more than adequate considering his size (maybe it just looked that way because he has those long strides). I think he would be a STELLAR receiving TE if he can block some. Would be a great red zone WR too, he works the middle of the field well in the video. Lets get him!!!

I really really hope we aren't considering him for TE. He would need to put on 40 lbs, and we have a few young ones already. We need WRs

We are looking at him as a receiver, not TE.

Our Tight Ends of the future are Malleck, Redman and Jackson and all of those guys are the pass cactching type.

Reeves, Caleb and Deloatch (if we get him) will be big possession receivers. Irick will be a leaper, and most of our other guys are burners.

Didn't know where to put this, but it involves Lockhart so...

Did anyone notice that Miami has 30 verbals according to Ri____? How are they gonna make that work?

Got word that unless Miami pulls some strings, its looking like Lockhart might not qualify. :hat:

Then again, who doesn't see Miami doing "whatever it takes".
