So the As have completely given up, right?

That team is an enigma, and I don't think they've "given up"....but Beane's hands are tied w/ a low payroll ceiling...and 10-15K fans per game at the turnstiles doesn't help either. Though they do seem to always have one of the more solid farm systems and develop good players every year.

Yep no way they win 75 or more games. Being an A's fan must be beyond frustrating. Last season you thought you would make & possibly win the series and now for the upcoming season they may be fighting Houston for last

Brandon Moss traded for a minor leaguer! What does that say about Brandon Moss! He was not a highly scouted minor Leaguer. But I do have to say that the Athletics seem to always make average players to good players. Its hard to think that they would let go Brandon Moss very well liked by Athletics fans!

Not highly scouted? Not sure what that means.... He was very well regarded in Boston - one off their top prospects.... I was very upset when they traded him.... I had high hopes that Moss & David Murphy would become fixtures in the Red Sox outfield (both traded in consecutive seasons - for Jason Bay & Eric Gagne)...

Anyway -as others have pointed out, the A's are in full re-build mode. They were all-in last season - and missed out.

They'll be back soon.

White Sox all of a sudden have one of the best rotations in the AL with Sale, JS and Quintana at the top. If they can learn how to not play Little League defense they could contend. (Abreu to DH will help with that a lot.)

How's their bullpen though (obviously closer should be alright now, but the rest)? What do they need in terms of bats? Their hitting stats were average at best last season, and if that doesn't change they're still in tough for a playoff spot.

I love this time of year. I hope the yankee make a big splash

They won't make a big splash this week... They'll make a few minor deals.

It'll be a while before Scherzer signs (the Boras way) - but he'll be in pinstripes by March.

they still need a left fielder, a catcher, and 2nd or 3rd baseman (gillspie can play 1 of the those positions). bullpen looks a lot better with Robertson and duke. they still could use a couple more relievers. Putnam and Petricka were solid last yr

This is what the A's do. Although last year was an oddity, they usually dont trade young prospects for a run. So good for them for going for it. But now they need to pay the piper. Such is the game you have to play when your not the yankees/boston/LAs of the world. when you can just buy out your mistakes.

Im sure the no name prospects they got back in the trades will be their next crop in a few years.

Hard to be an A's fan I would imagine. As soon as you start to like a good player...he gone.

They need velcro names on the back of all the team jerseys they sell.

Damn....dude went from the northside....out west to the east bay....and then back to the southside in 5 months.

He's a pretty decent pitcher though....and solid as a #2 or #3.

he looked like a #2 a lot in Oakland. Flush and forget my samardginal memories.

I heard kenny williams on the radio this morning. They asked if he thinks he gave up too much for a rental and kenny said that Shark grew up a sox fans, we think we have an edge to resigning him.

Shark wants to be wined and dined and wanted next off season. chances of extending him are as good as the cubs, slim to none, unless he gets hurt.

You guys did okay though by getting Addison Russell in return for him at least....

Bye bye Montero.

Glad we cleared his entire contract off the books. Now finding a replacement should be fun...

In light of these moves, the Butler signing is even more baffling.

I don't know why anyone would want him. Nevermind at 10Mil. KC got better by getting him the hell out the lineup.

A DH without power or speed, makes no sense.
