Gordon led the league in triples and stolen bases, and his speed isn't going away any time soon. Juan Uribe is still great with the glove, even when he flat out stinks with the bat.

The reason he needs all those steals and triples is because he's needs to compensate for his lack of overall power and not so good OBP....when you're only hitting 2 HR and have a total of 36 extra base hits over 600+ at bats, you better be stealing a lot of bases to get yourself into scoring position.

But the obvious problem is that batting average tends to be first thing to go when players decline....when/if he declines to a .275 hitter, what's his OBP going to be, maybe .300? No amount of speed would compensate for that combined with zero power.

Wow. Can't believe we got two young arms for Miley. I've always liked De La Rosa. I know Webster has been a bust up to this point, but he was once highly regarded for a reason. Hope he turns things around in AZ.

Webster did change his mechanics in late 2014 and he looked better in his last few starts, putting up a 15/5 K/BB ratio in 24 innings in Stepmber. As a point of reference, he had a 21/23 K/BB ratio in 35 innings prior to that.

Granted it's a small sample size. Even if he doesn't pan out as a starter, he could make for a fine reliever (kinda like what happened with Andrew Miller).

Love this deal.

I'd expect so. Rick should be entering his prime pitching years (ages 26-30), and he is a groundball pitcher, so Fenway shouldn't be a big issue.

Hopefully it works out for both teams. Tigers get a good defensive outfielder with power, who can provide some lineup protection for either V-Mart or JD-Mart. Plus a half-decent RP to boot.

Man, Latos went for nothing. Desclafani and Wallach? Are the Reds just giving players away now? If so, please sent Cueto and Chapman over pronto.

It's the last day of the winter meetings..... still a few hrs to go.
I'm a little surprised Sandy Alderson & the Mets haven't done anything either....as of yet.

Everything I read said the Mets biggest moves (if any) will likely be in January after the dust settles a bit. They are looking to improve through trades and the free agent pitching market needs to dry up first before they can move arms.

They signed Johny Mayberry to a cheap deal. Not a bad move for what it is, a 4th OF that can hit against lefties in games that Cuddyer plays first.

Reds certainly look to be in full-sell mode.
