He is supposed to be a QB coach that can develop QB's but so far hasn't done a very good job with any player this year
So......exactly how long does it take to develop a QB? One of the games very best right now sat for 5 years before the team turned to him. (Rogers). Granted a different set of circumstances there, but what's the cost of playing a QB too soon? Don't know? Here's a clue.......R.G.III. Jay Gruden has been here for exactly one off season, he inherited a team not of his choosing, had to acclimate himself into the rigors inherent in becoming an rookie HC , teach his assistants his offensive and hopefully not, defensive philosophies, go through a draft and not knowing a thing about the current state of the team, set up an off season program for them.

hes done pretty good with colt so far
If only that was true! Colt McCoy QB'ed at Texas where Mack Brown basically employed a pro style offense. He then went to Cleveland and San Fran where I'm sure there were emphasis on fundamentals. All he's had to do here is to apply what he's learned elsewhere and not be as fundamentally unsound as his fellow QB's.
You give up 2 No. 1s and a No. 2 for a guy you want to take 5 years to develop? Who were you going to play at QB while your prize bull was learning? Rex Grossman?
As I mentioned in an earlier post, they knew what they had in year one. That is why Kyle installed the offense he did. After getting hurt Griffin didn't want to run that offense any longer so they fired the existing coach and brought in Gruden to teach him to be a different kind of QB. So far it has been a failure.
Sty... have to disagree a little. Gruden KNEW what he was walking into. Because every one on the planet who has even a loose understanding of the NFL KNEW what he was walking into. A Dysfunctional organization with
1. One Young QB who may or may not have torpedo'd his previous coach
2. Another Young QB that showed promise as a pocket passer, but with a penchant for throwing Picks.
3. A defense that is about as streaky as a fat plumbers underwear
4. An owner with about as much patience as a two year old that mainlines redbull and liquid jolly ranchers
and lastly
5. A fan base that is just as impatient and willing to buy about 90% of the Bullshit the owner puts out.
Where exactly do we disagree?
You hint that Gruden had no idea what he was really walking into. Stevie Wonder could see what gruden was walking into from the dark side of the moon.![]()
Naw, we don't disagree. My point with Gruden was not that he was unaware, but simply, new at it, complete with more things to do than there was time or opportunity to get all done. I'm preaching something that very few in and outside of this organization has in abundance............Patience! !!!
That is something that neither the owner or the fan base has after 21 years of general sucktatude.
