Well let's get the Kirk stuff out of the way first. His first pass of the game was an amazing throw to Niles. He seems to have had his best moments when he throws it in less than 2 seconds, when he does not have time to think. His fumble was on him. The clock in his head needed to warn him to tuck it away. The pick was horrible. Even some of the easy stuff he was telegraphing. The shuffle pass he did not disguise well, the swing pass he nearly got his player killed. When a quarterback loses that ability to be somewhat of a magician, and gives away what is happening to the defense, it makes it darn near impossible to succeed.

His body language over the past few weeks, has shown he is afraid of his own shadow. He is a beaten man. Sometimes too much scar tissue makes it impossible to overcome your past. I don't think he is going to be able to overcome this to become a starter in the league. I think he can operate in chaos as a backup who has to throw his helmet on and throw right away.

Colt McCoy. He gave Pierre a chance to make a play. Got it on him quick and at a time when there was space between him and the defender. He obviously is more familiar with the offense and his decisions were much more decisive, and being decisive does not mean you have to throw it as hard as you can. You have to have a clear head which means making the play needed for the situation. Colt is only 2 years older than Kirk. He is a better athlete too. He is also an ultra competitor, who is 2nd all time in ncaa wins I believe? Oh and there is no question Colt will start vs Dallas. He gives the team a little boost of energy as well.

I am on the record, saying I am a Colt McCoy fan. I loved this guy, when he played for Texas, along with Orakpo. Those teams were good. I liked his accuracy and his running ability. His size was not great, and his arm was average. As a pro, he just never got his career off the ground. Of course, he didn't go to a team that has a good track record with QBs. The Browns is probably the worst team that any young QB can go to. I don't even count his time as a 49ers. When we picked him up, I was happy, though I knew the circumstance. He looked good in preseason. When KC was having his woes, I was rooting for him to get a needed shot. He came in and it paid dividends. Of course, I can't get too excited because it was against the Titans. Still, I like what I saw.

Ironically, Kirk Cousins wins his first game as a starter.. in a game in which he did not finish

Lets not get carried away here. There is a reason why Colt was available to us as a 3rd string QB. No other team wanted him. He played well yesterday. Foremost, he didn't turn the ball over. But he probably will not play that way the next time he plays. We just need to set expectations accordingly.

Good God fans are amazing as they overvalue what they have seen last. I don't care what he did at Texas. Vince Young was great at Texas too. As j y19 posted he is a 3rd stringer who barely made the team for a reason. He sucks boys and 3 years in Cleveland is a better measuring stick than a half against a horrible Titans team. If he starts against Dallas we are in trouble. But sadly he gives us our best option right now.

Did I not just say that Colt gives the team the best chance to win over Kirk? My post was in direct response to posts, including yours, that claim they are Colt fans. Some base this on what he did at Texas while totally disregarding what he has done since moving up to play with the big boys. I'm just pointing out that as usual many fans go ape shit over what they have seen last and totally disregard what took place in the years prior to last Sunday.

He had a ridiculously bad injury coming out of college and went to the browns.
He can be a good back up for us. I don't think teams will be calling us to want to trade for him as their starter.
Let's see if he can put together a few good scoring drives vs Dallas, WITHOUT the catastrophic mistakes that Kirk has made.

I am a Browns sympathizer so I was following Colt in Cleveland and was rooting for him badly. So I'm no hater. Thought he was s steal in the 3rd round and really thought he would do well.

Despite given multiple chance to hold down the job bottom line was he was terrible. "Went to the Browns" is a pretty lame excuse. Cleveland fans could very well be saying "Went to the Redskins" as they discuss Kirk Cousins. Same damn thing. If he failed in that black hole what makes you think he can succeed in this one?

You're right, he is a better option than Cousins. But this is the tallest midget argument. I'm just cautioning fans not to get too carried away because Colt McCoy is still Colt McCoy.

Colt seems to provide better ball security and mobility at the moment. That too will probably change if/when a team actually game plans for him.

Capt Kirk seems to have lost all confidence in himself and mentally checked out. The TOs are too many to overcome any upside, imo.

That's about all my expectations for Colt are at the moment. He's not going to change anything for this franchise and he's not going to be the future for the franchise but he may prove to be the future back up for us.

You provide more ball security than Kirk Cousins.

We put the "fun" in dysfunctional.

At this point, Jay Gruden is Jim Zorn II to me. He's shown absolutely nothing at all that makes me think he's got a handle on this team, on why we're losing, or how to solve it.

Serious question: Can someone name ONE great decision he's made since he's arrived? Not one obvious decision, but one inspired, well thought out, choice that has lead to any sort of success?

Haslett? Nope. Special Teams? Nope. Boy Scout Sean McVay? WTF! Play calling? Not once. Roster moves? Nope. Team culture? Nothing changed there.

Gruden is :lame:
