And yet....here he is.....and did the job perfectly "tonight."

He's up for arbitration now. And he made about $500K. Why not make him an offer?

If he says yes, then he can compete in ST and/or we have another trade chip.

Can't believe I just proposed this.

We have way too many to pare down for the 40 man roster to leave Kirkman on it. Overall he will fail. He has been good in short spurts before, but he always fails eventually. He has failed about 4 to 5 times more often than Ogando has.

I believe I waved the white flag on this one already.

Let's move on sir...........

One thing we can do is make sure Oakland is on the road for the wild card game. It's under our control as of now.

I am not able to watch the game as I am on a train to San Antonio. And let me tell you it is tough typing on this phone with th the train bouncing around. But sounded like a great game and Colby is messing with my head. Guess need to keep him away from the Angels.

How did Colby give up 6 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings but just give up 1 run.

Because something is in Oakland's head. They are now that bad. If they survive us they will lose the WC game.

They've had players out perform their ceilings for 2 years now. It seems they are coming back to earth., and it's fun to watch.

This is great news.....

Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is hopeful that he will receive an interview for the team’s managerial vacancy, and GM Jon Daniels expects to sit down with him at season’s end, writes MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan. Even if Maddux isn’t hired (or even interviewed), he’s expected to return to the club as a pitching cocah in 2015, a club official tells Sullivan, and he’s “certain” to return if interim manager Tim Bogar gets the job. Maddux’s contract is up after the current season.

That is good news. I wonder if Buechele would want Maddux as pitching coach as well. I would think he would.

Glad to hear that myself. I like what I have seen from Bogar so far and Maddux has done a great job as pitching coach so to me that would be the ideal situation.

A's offense has suffered greatly since the trade of Cespy, injuries and Moss going cold as well as Norris and most of the rest sucking. Reddick is probably their hottest bat and that bodes poorly for that team. Much like the Rangers not scoring lots of runs most of the year, the pitching is just not enough.

I love what Bogar has done but I would pump the brakes on the scenario of both of them being with the club next year. I think if one or the other doesn't get the managerial job they are likely to be in Houston next year. At this point I think all parties are saying the right things until they make a move based on how it plays out.

I have not seen Maddux’s name mentioned yet in regards to the Houston job.

I believe Justin posted an article earlier about the number of candidates for the Houston managerial position and neither Bogar or Maddux was mentioned.

It seems by some in the media, and perhaps in the know, that it would be surprising if anyone other than Bogar got the job here.

When the Rangers interview Tim Bogar for the manager’s job, he will have a quick answer to the Leonys Martin question.

He is the leadoff hitter on a team managed by Tim Bogar.

Martin started at leadoff for the 18th time in Bogar’s 19 games as interim manager on Thursday night at Globe Life Park. He scored once as the Rangers defeated Oakland 2-1 on Adrian Beltre’s homer in the ninth inning.

Martin created a two-out, game-tying run in the sixth on a bunt single and stolen base ahead of a single by Elvis Andrus. Martin is batting .316 with a .366 on-base percentage as the leadoff hitter for Bogar.

That is enough for Bogar. He is sold on the idea of Martin as the No. 1 hitter.

So Diamondbacks locked up worst record. They wanted it more...hah

These players better not be a bunch of fools gold. The young guys look like they have the talent to win, but it better not be a flash in the pan thing. You fuckers better build on this in the off season and ST.

Saw something yesterday about how Maddox wanted to be considered for the Manager's job here in Texas. (IE...at least get an interview)... but if Bogar gets the nod, he said he'd be more than willing to come back as the pitching coach.

I think we have to be careful about believing what the media says about our managerial candidates unless they have a direct quote from JD. This is a very tight lipped organization that very rarely has important things leaked to the media. I don't think they put up with loose lips. Guys like Bowden, Rosenthal, and others have been wrong time and time again where it concerns possible Rangers acquisitions and I don't think they have any inside information concerning managerial candidates either. I have learned to not put too much stock in Rangers rumors unless it comes from T R Sullivan.

Maddux hopeful he'll get interview for managerial opening | texasrangers.com

TR Sullivan.

"ARLINGTON -- Pitching coach Mike Maddux is hoping to interview for the Rangers managerial opening and general manager Jon Daniels expects to sit down with him at the end of the season.

If Maddux doesn't get the job, he is still expected to return as pitching coach even though his contract is up after the season, club officials have indicated. Maddux is certain to return if interim manager Tim Bogar gets the job on a full-time basis."
