With Holland on the hill tonight, it at least gives us something to really look forward too.

Not expecting much actually, just anxious to see how he looks, moves, etc.

Biggest day we've had in a long while. Provides a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Let's sincerely hope so.

I am somewhat concerned due to his dismal showings in the minors though.

But he has earned the right to be here, if for no other reason, how hard he's worked. With our season being what it is, he could have coasted into ST and got away with it.

And we all best pray he can be counted on for next season.

I really don't understand why management wants to waste innings on Michael Kirkman. He should have been gone long ago.

I hope the Rangers are interested in Yasmani Tomas, he's a COF with middle of the order power.

I wonder if he is fully recovered from that arm injury that kept his numbers down the last year he played in Cuba?

The fact he isn't gone should tell you the organization still has hopes for this guy.

And from what I read this morning, he done a really good job against lefties. Besides, there are no wasted innings on this team at this point. It's all about next year. And if Kirkman can show he's efficient against left-handers, then if nothing else, maybe another team will want him.

Kirkman and Moreland are head scratchers for sure. Most good Organizations would've moved on by now.

I'm assuming he is because he's going to be heavily sought after as soon as he's cleared by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

The guy drove me crazy when he was pitching for the Rangers as he was just so bad but from what I can see he actually has been pitching much better lately down at RR. Of course that does not mean it will translate at the ML level.

I hope that Gallo hits for AVG like Bryant does in 2 years. What a bomb to the right of dead center off Bryant's bat. CHI might have something soon with Soler and Bryant.

Bryant's spray chart is pretty awesome, Cubs are definitely improving their offense with those 2 and Baez and others. Don't know if their pitching prospects are coming along at the same clip however

I guess we're gonna find out over the next 20 some games.

I know they still have hopes for him. That is what I don't understand. There is no reason to have hopes for him. He just spent his 10th season in our organization. He has pitched almost 700 innings in the minors and hasn't had an ERA below 4.00 in his last 4 seasons. He is a waste of a 40 man roster spot. Every inning he pitches the rest of the year could go to a younger prospect who actually has an opportunity to stick with the club before his 11th season in the organization. In his 10th season he had an ERA of 4.47 in AAA. That should tell everyone that this guy is not going to make it. I have never seen this organization have anywhere near this kind of "patience" with any other player in the history of the organization. That is what is so puzzling. He should not be wasting a space on the 40 man roster.

Bennie you stated this well and I agree. Ten years is far too much time to develop this guy. :agree:

He is not wasting space if he can indeed get left hand hitters out on a consistent basis. It's that simple. And he's been doing exactly this very well while in AAA. If he can't he's gone and no big deal.

But if he shows what he's shown at RR in Arlington, we can make him a arbitration offer - which it couldn't be much - and have a valuable piece for our pen or a tradable asset.
