After the game, Ramirez said he was pleased that he could play with "no pain" and shrugged at Mattingly's assessment that he was rusty.

"Maybe," he said. "We'll see."

And the hard-hit ground ball?

"It was a bullet," Ramirez said. "Anything else? Negative stuff?"

Yes, Han Ram, major league shortstops handle bullets on the reg.

We need Hanley

I completely respect people who feel that way. I think we could find a replacement for him at half the dough that would contribute in so many more dynamic ways.

If he moved to 3rd base then there would be no question marks as to whether the Dodgers should resign him or not.

You looked up the W/L Hanley had as a starter, is it possible for you to find out the average amount of runs produced with him in the lineup compared to when he's not in the lineup? I'd be legitimately curious to see those numbers. This organization is really deep at Short.

Isn't Juan Uribe signed for next year? Much better fielder with an equally mediocre bat this year (perhaps more Ks?). I'll try to dig something up.

I think Uribe's useful with the bat but I still think Hanley is better, and there aren't many players better than him when he's hot, even when he's not he provides more protection in the lineup. His defense however has been very disappointing so far this year, and I was a big defender of his defense last year.

You're right though, Uribe is signed for next year but he'd have suitors if we wanted to trade him.

When Hanley gets hot there's hardly anyone better.

I don't see many upgrades out there, and certainly not at half the price.

That said, he's always sucked at fielding his position. Probably always will. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I think they can easily find a defensive upgrade, that is not a fucking asshole in the locker room, that understands situational hitting (going the other way, taking pitches etc).

You are 100% correct, nobody better in the league when hot. But when thus year? Hope he turns it around.

Hanley is much more of a leader with the Dodgers than he ever was with the Marlins. He's not an asshole because he got annoyed with negative questions, Kershaw has gotten annoyed with questions as well, guess anyone who isn't always pleasant with reporters are assholes.

Can't argue with any of that.

I didn't have a problem with Hanley's reaction, either. I can see why people are gonna make a big deal out of it but I would've been irritated, too.

Well, you guys like Han Ram more than I do. I see a guy who is not very self aware of his limitations on the field, injury prone, self absorbed, streaky and weak defender that commands big dollars.

I'm guessing you're a "half-empty" kind of guy.

No, more of a fiscal responsibility, farm system, team player, respect the game, low scoring pitching duel kind of guy.

In my opinion, good pitching beats good hitting and this is magnified in the playoffs.

I love watching Puig play the game, youthful exuberance. I love how Kemp has nearly found that effortless swing and embraced right field. Love Dee, his embracing second base and how he plays his lead off roll to a "T." Watching Uribe play third is awesome. And Kershaw speaks for itself.

But I'm not a fan that arbitrarily supports a player because he plays for "my" team. I liked watching Han Ram (when not injured) for a stint last year, but this year he's done nothing to entertain me, only annoy.

Comparing Hanley and Uribe's bat is laughable... Hanley is far superior, and yes we need Hanley.
