Does anyone have a good reason why the Yankees did what they did and put Thornton out there and the Nationals grabbed him?

Just don't stop scoring. 3-0 hasn't been enough last two games.

I thought if a player was placed on waivers he couldn't play?

Pretty sure on revocable waivers the team can continue to play the player until a team claims them and a deal is made to move the player to said team.

Thanks to both you and Rev.

So, with revocable waivers, is it still 10 days?

Lots of teams will put a number of players on revocable waivers after the trade deadline in case some team offers them a deal they can't pass up on and then they can still trade those players in August. Yankess also placed Gardener, Drew and Prado on waivers as well. Doubt they move any of them as they are still in the WC hunt.

A player that clears waivers can be dealt to any team, while a player that is claimed on waivers can be dealt to that team only (within 48.5 hours) or simply pulled back off waivers. A player can be placed on waivers a second time after being pulled back, but the waivers are no longer revocable the second time.
