I'm still thinking the Rangers may look at Profar as a backup at SS/3rd for next season - maybe some 2nd too, dependent upon what happens with Odor for the rest of this year.

If they do this, then maybe the long term thinking is for AB to be a part-time (perhaps full) 3rd baseman in 2016, part-time 1st baseman, and a few ABs at DH.

Why is everyone so sure Gallo isn't going to get a good look at 3rd in the bigs? Seems the Rangers are so sold on this thought process.

Because he's not that good at 3B and his big arm would be better used in a COF position.

I disagree. EA will at least be on the field. Kemp you cannot promise that.

:agree:.......And in case no one's paying attention, EA has come to life with the bat, and plays an above average SS. Yes he's expensive. Get this.

But Matt Kemp may fall over dead at any moment. He's a fair OF to begin with, is getting older by the hour, costs a lot too.

Wouldn't that be great to have both Kemp and Prince watching from a hotel room and making $200 mil?

Kemp has been very good with the bat this year while remaining healthy, but his track record worries me. Plus his defense has been horrible. Texas has enough bad defensive OFs on the 40 man roster already.

I wouldn't give ya a dozen Nolan Ryan hot dogs for Hanley.

I wouldn't trade EA straight up for Kemp. ESPECIALLY throwing in a prospect too. Insane.

I don't want Hanley. My point was I don't think he'll be a Dodger next year. I could be wrong. If he's not then there's an opening at SS.

Gallo isnt a very good 3b, and we wanna keep profar in the infield where he's best. As long as we have EA (which seems to be for awhile considering his value) that's really the only spot to give him regular time in the future

OK....I understand this, and can go with it.

But dependent on what we decide over the next year or so, perhaps the FO decides to give up some D at 3rd and go with a monster bat at the position. Just a possibility.

But you're on with the Rangers needing an arm/plus bat in RF.

I will never not want Giancarlo Stanton. I will forever want him to be a Ranger and just hope one day he becomes one.

EA came to life at the end of last year too. That doesn't mean shit to me besides it could get his value up. This is what Elvis is. If you can trade him for a run producer at a position of weakness I think I would do it.

BTW. He doesn't cost any more than EA, and he's only 29. If (and yes it's a big if) Profar is healthy I believe he can put up EA's numbers without question.

Me too. He's my favorite non-Ranger. I proclaimed him to be an eventual member of the 600 HR club. This was awhile back. I would have traded Profar+ for him when the majority of Ranger fans baulked at the idea.

I just don't see Miami trading him. I feel the ship has sailed on that one. Even if they did I don't think we could give them the best package.

Good point on EA from last year to this.

But Kemp has had very serious injuries to more than one area of the body. So he's 29 (30 in Sept) and going on 38, if you know what I mean?

I do worry about counting on someone coming back from injury - Profar - when he got hurt in a very weird way, and to an odd area too, plus he's still a pup. I just hope young and hurt isn't going to be on his Ranger tombstone.

Saw this note yesterday: The Rangers have used 33 pitchers this season, which is only the 4th time since 1901 this has happened. The all time record for a season is 37 by SD in 2007.

I know exactly what you mean, and I understand anyone's concern. I think I'd be willing to risk it. This line-up needs a serious jolt next year.

I wish I would have gone out to Frisco tonight. Chi Chi is starting. I'm not sure if Alfaro will start, but would've been fun regardless.

Nevermind. That's tomorrow night and I have my sons soccer practice. Damnit.

What's the attendance like out there? No problem on buying tickets at the gate?

60% chance of rain in Clev tonight. But it doesn't look so intense - according to National Weather Service.

None at all. Best to get them down the left field line because for the first 3 innings the sun is on full blast down the right field line.
