Freeman, West, Hyde, any of those could be the type of high upside RB you would want to stash.

West is my favorite of the 3, but it is really just a matter of personal preference.

Sadly I need first names as well. As I am not sure which one everyone is talking about this two freeman, west are available (well if I get lucky on the wire)

And Steven Jackson in Atlanta just hurt his hamstring, so I would bump Freeman up to the top of that list.

Already?

Man, I thought he would at least get 4 or 5 preseason carries before the first injury.

I agree with TKO Re Freeman.

RB Primer: Gerhart, others could help reestablish position's superiority

ver 100 years later, fantasy running backs have undergone a similar makeover. Not long ago Marshall Faulk, Shaun Alexander and LaDainian Tomlinson were the financiers of the virtual game. Week in and week out, they conquered the meek with large workloads, high yardage totals and numerous touchdowns. In terms of overall impact, quarterbacks and wide receivers paled by comparison. No surprise, we fantasy guys worshiped them, naming our teams, dogs, first borns after them.

Man, those were the days.

[Smack talk season is back at Yahoo Sports: Sign up and play free Fantasy Football!]

Unlike what happened to industrial giants in the early 20th century, it wasn’t a single individual that changed the course of history. Rather, it was a collaborative idea almost universally accepted by NFL coaches that crippled the position, the dreaded running back by committee.

RBBC is a term that rattles any drafter to the bone. It makes eyes squint, palms sweat and stomachs queasy. It also greatly complicates RB values.

Careful...

This column was written by Brad Evans. He has a really amazing track record for hyping up players who bust hideously. I think his top two players last season were Richardson and Spiller. He was big on the McFadden/ Ryan Mathews bandwagons before that and has also hyped guys like Felix Jones, Tim Hightower, etc.

In fact, some believe that if you avoid all players who Evans recommends, you are destined for fantasy greatness.

I am in one 10 person league that allows backup QBs and is auto draft. Every team had a backup QB so every year there is literally no QBs available. I had Cutler and when he went down there were no starting QB's in free agency. Had to take the guy from Houston who played alittle and then did nothing.

Alex Smith isn't bad. He isn't flashy but at least he is fairly consistent.

Yeah he is not flashy but he could help me get some points as a back-up QB
