Ranger dude gets it. I think people are thinking too hard about getting rid of the few good players we do have. Do you want to be Round Rock Rangers 2.0 next year?

Trading Soria for depth would in no way make Texas the Round Rock Rangers. Texas really probably should have sent Nathan to Detroit last season when he was at his best. Soria will likely not be an option for Texas going forward, so why let him walk away with nothing when you can potentially get something for him now?

I think they can easily have him on the team next year. I think it's a team option. Why not trade him next year at the deadline ( if we suck again next year)?

Soria is really cheap this year and his value is as high as it will likely ever be to trade him. You don't sit on something like that. He will be a year older and more expensive next year. If you are going to trade him you do it this season.

It weakens the team next year tho , what if they intend to compete next season? Idk about you, but I wouldn't be looking forward to watching Scheppers try to close games.

How can you even know that it would weaken the team? Closer is one of the most overrated positions in all of baseball. They should be using everyone to close games and base it on matchups and ride the hot hand. Paying one guy 7 million (that actually the low end too) to only get the last 3 outs of the game is fundamentally ludicrous and part of what is wrong with baseball and the save stat. Soria is having a great year, and it's not because of "saves." He's having a great year because of his disgusting FIP and K/9 and K/BB.

As a GM JD will have to look at all options. Trading him is an option and it's viable, because he will get max value back. He is both an expiring contract, and pitching lights out this season. You are concerned about next year as if 2015 is the only season remaining after this year. Texas can be made better in other areas by trading Soria. You aren't trading him just because. It would be for good return to help strengthen the roster for next season and going forward. You are missing the forest for the trees here.

Why is he leading off? Terrible ab.

Because we have nobody else. Surely somebody is talking to him about this and he's just ignoring it. :noidea:

Mariners did Nick a huge favor with that 2-0 bunt. Getting that first out was probably a huge boost for him.

Yes, because Gimenez is right handed and pulled it to SS.

I was looking at the Gimenez hit through a glass door and watching the reflection actually and got confused. But I tried to cancel this post before it became "documented" damn it. Apparently not quick enough.

Oh well.
