I don't think Don Hay wants the job, he can coach the Giants until he decides to retire...

So i guess Daivd Ebner is one of the reporters being sued

attaboy Frankie!!! :L

Much of the distancing revolves around the hiring of Mr. Tortorella, whose reputation as a firebrand and penchant to coach defensive hockey made him a controversial choice last year. On Monday, Francesco Aquilini sent a Globe and Mail reporter a text message warning of legal action after the newspaper published a story discussing the family’s involvement in the hiring.

“I read your article today. You are a prick,” it said. Two hours later, a legal letter from the family’s counsel arrived by e-mail. It alleged defamation, sought a retraction and an apology, and threatened further action.

“The facts are that while the Aquilinis supported the decision of the General Manager, the hiring decision was his and not theirs,” lawyer Howard Shapray of Vancouver-based Shapray Cramer Fitterman Lamer LLP wrote in the legal letter to The Globe.

Maybe Aquilini's text continued?

"I read your article today. You're a prick....of sunshine in this dark media landscape"

The Sedins are good company men, they're not going to say anything negative about Torts. That said, I don't believe he was their first choice as coach after AV was fired.

ah ok. I would love to be in those interviews

Ohhh, to be a fly on the wall during those!

And with them wanting him there, I don't think they will kick the can on him after one year. Not after buying into his system. He may not have been the first choice, but there wasn't many great choices out there. Ruff has a similar system to Torts and it's working well with Dallas. Tippet wasn't going to leave Phoenix, I wanted him in NY.

Dallas Eakins, don't get anybody started on him. :laugh3: Torts was technically a ''big name'' coach that they were left with.

You think they may look at Jeff Gorton from us? Plenty of experience under Sather and Sather's future is always in question, I eventually want Gorton to take over but he may not want to wait much longer when he may be ready for the big show of doing it on his own. And having the familiarity with Torts, it could work.

yeah I heard that. made me chuckle. I liked Trevs explanation of why he had to when asked. There was a process and he respected that process. Leave it to the media to attack that one
