to another thing, how many GM's play their games in the media? JD never does that. He doesn't let his players hang out there, having to answer reporters who want to know how they feel about playing for another team. Perhaps if he made it more public that a player might be shopped or traded, the player would have more notice that something might be coming down the pike.

I don't think anyone likes that option.
I would be willing to bet that the leak that brought the deal to the media was not from Tigers' GM Dave Dombrowski's office. He is well know to keep deals under wraps until they are official.
I wish Kinsler would have kept his mouth shut and let his play do the talking but I can't blame him for holding some resentment.
I find it hard to believe that Rangers' fans are now calling Kinser a clubhouse cancer (hate the use of this word here) after the fact. In December, Ranger fans seemed to generally have a high opinion of him.
On the field, I think both Kinsler and Prince are due for big rebound seasons. Wouldn't surprise me to see Prince compete for the MVP or Kinsler to return to being All-Star caliber.
Either way, I like where the Tigers are list as 4/1 odds to take the AL Pennant while the Rangers are 8/1. My money has to be on the Tigers but good luck this year against the A's and Angels.

After the fact? I don't think many people here are saying that, but its obvious he had trouble being a leader and contributing on the field, that "burden" was just too great after Young was traded... But the reality is this, many on here have questioned Kinsler's motivation and leadership abilities in the past, we mostly respected his play, but he irked just about everyone I can think of in some way... he had a talent for that

At the end of the day I'm glad Kinsler is gone and Profar is getting a chance and Fielder is holding down a spot in our lineup

Not sure he is a cancer, but he obviously has issues with authority. He's one of those guys that when he was here we knew he was a "spaz". Holland also fits that category. They make boneheaded mistakes, say stupid things, and just generally act immature. Doesn't mean they aren't good guys or good players. Just means that we know they are prone to doing stupid things, and that's all that happened here. There is a disconnect between some peoples brains and their mouth, kinsler is one of those people. He will say what he feels, then think about it, and "clarify" later. Not a bad thing, but backlash has to be expected.

Could have come from an agent or someone in the MLB front office. There are a lot of people that could have been notified prior to Ian and Prince being told.

I hope the Tigers go 88-74 and miss the playoffs by 1 game after Kinsler boots a routine grounder in the 9th inning of their last game.

Kinsler is not a "clubhouse cancer" total BS from a COUPLE Ranger fans that know better and have never talked about Kinsler in that matter. Anything and everything his teammates have said over the years about him suggests the exact opposite.

This is about Kinsler and JD, make no mistake.

It was a great trade for both sides (imo), but once again JD handled it poorly by not making sure Kinsler knew before everyone else...and Kinsler let loose. Honeslty, I'm not shocked by this. I think that relationship has been severly strained for awhile.
Ill-advised interview, yup...he went too far, does it change my opinion of him and his entire career playing with this team?
Nope.
Should you worry about Kinsler being a good teammate and running his mouth?
Nope.

Kinsler as a cancer is a bit over the top

But he's been a somewhat selfish player for a long time, and this summed it up nicely;

“They wanted me to lead these young players, teach them the way to compete, when the only thing I should be worried about is how I’m performing in the game”

Nice enough guy, people got along with him most the time, but he wasn't a leader or not a very good one

One thing I don't get is; Jackie Moore called out JD for being in the clubhouse too much, and much of the Kinsler stuff gives me the impression he's too cut throat... not sure which to believe... but I'm inclined to believe that Kinsler stuff

Cutthroat is great when dealing with other teams and GM's. For that reason, I love that JD is very shrewd and sneaky. Another thing I love about JD is that he holds his cards very close to the vest. You rarely hear him give away too much to the media. Smart.

However, I've been told stories about JD for many years now, as far back as 2010 when things were all gravy, about how two-faced, conniving, and dishonest he was with his own people. He was never afraid to stab people in the back or undercut people around him. So when Mike Young cried foul to the media about being severely misled by JD, I believed him. And when Kinsler just described JD as a sleazeball whose ego has run amok, yeah, I think that's probably pretty accurate (although "sleazeball" is a bit too much if you ask me).

I've just heard for way too long how JD was pretty two-faced, and all of the accounts from former Rangers seem to support that opinion. But I think JD's cunning and conniving nature does benefit the team in many ways. I just hope that other players don't start believing our former Rangers and not want to come here because of it. Let's hope they take these slams against JD with a grain of salt because most dismissed or traded players and coaches (even my friend) do have an axe to grind. There are always two sides to every story.

Reading what Kinsler had to say made me chuckle, but finding out this forum has a sub-forum for the Texas Rangers made me laugh out loud. What a joke of an organization they are. :laugh3:

Flame suit on!
