Tennessee senior tailback and return specialist Devrin Young suffered “a couple of broken ribs” in his team’s 45-10 win over Chattanooga Saturday, head coach Butch Jones confirmed after the game. Jones didn’t go into specifics on the Vols’ other injuries, but said he’d heard news about Young.
“The only thing I’ve heard right now is Devrin Young has a couple of broken ribs,” Jones said. “I’ll have to get clarification on that.”
Henderson not with Vols for 'personal reasons'
Freshman defensive end Joe Henderson is not with the Tennessee football team right now because of "personal reasons," a UT spokesperson confirmed to GoVols247 on Sunday afternoon.
Henderson, a 6-foot-4, 234-pound freshman from Shaker Heights, Ohio, was a four-star, Top247 signee in the 2014 class and has been on track to redshirt this season — which has been the plan with him since preseason camp, when Henderson showed plenty of potential but was a bit too light in the seat to contribute as a true freshman.
Tennessee's coaching staff has been very complimentary of Henderson as of just a couple of weeks ago, and his "personal reasons" aren't being specified at this point.
Fifth-year senior Jacob Gilliam — a former walk-on who's playing with a torn ACL — will start at right tackle for Tennessee if normal starter Coleman Thomas is unavailable Saturday night against Alabama, Vols offensive line coach Don Mahoney said after Wednesday's practice on Haslam Field.
Over/Under 6 sacks on the game for Tennessee O-Line?
Looks like you guys got the flu too.
Hope Alabama doesn't get hit with it.
Flu hits team: A flu virus has made its way through the team's freshman class, including Beech product Jalen Hurd, Jones said on 104.5. Some players lost as many as 10 pounds due to the illness, according to Jones.
“I can tell all of Vol Nation that I am 100 percent committed to building this football program that’s developing great young men, one that wins championships for many years to come. We are driven to do that. We love Tennessee. My family loves Tennessee. Vol Nation has been unbelievable to us. You know that I am a loyal person so that’s all I need to say.”
Westend Vol or any other Val Fan...quick question from a TN native...I've watched a handful of games during the Jones era, but don't follow recruiting, etc....is this program on the mend?
