What kind of babying BS is this? It is in the rules, do it. I don't like doing everything my employers say but I get over it and get paid millions less to do so. If he cannot stand talking to the media, he can always quit football. Personally, the media should not bother ask these guys questions anyways. How many cliche filled interviews should we watch?[/QUOTE]

That clip from Bull Durham....

"We gotta play 'em one game at a time"...."Just happy to be here, hope I can help the ball club"....etc.

He displays a lot of the classic symptoms of social anxiety disorder. He never looks comfortable when cameras are around, even when other Seahawks try to film him and ask him questions. Same when surrounded by large groups of people. You can see he's really uneasy.

I know the media doesnt like it but I don't care.

Exactly some people are just that way like a phobia or what not,what do people want with a guy that does not want to be there?

I used the phrase holding a gun to his head, and I didn't mean it metaphorically. You can't say they are "forcing" him to talk to the media, because he has an out: he can pay the fine if he so desires. Therefore they are neither literally nor figuratively holding a gun to his head.

Regardless, again this comes down to an employee/employer relationship.

So technically he could sit down, with a marker and a white sheet of poster board and scribble on the board, " I am not comfortable speaking to the media, but I am forced to be here", hold that sign in place for six minutes then leave and he will have met his obligation.

Sounds a bit over the top but because the NFL decided not to fine him, they must have been satisfied that he adhered to the CBA provision. Would have been funny if he used an etch a sketch

You are upset about that post (and you are reaching quite a bit), but you are ok with this one below?

they have to use that narrative though. They cant use the one that explains him as an illiterate ghetto jerk who isn't media savvy and too immature to handle it

You can tell he just does not like these interviews,he was shaking thankfully Robinson is there with him but it isnt right making him do that or get fined.

Your point? It's in his contract. He makes millions. Cry me a river.

You always have a choice.

A Car Wash was invented for dirty cars & workers who want to avoid talking to the press.

basically we are dumbing down and enabling society and this is an example of it. The interview process in life not just media has been around forever...not all like it but everyone has to do it to some degree.

sports is the one venue where people who cant think their way out of a paper bag are allowed to succeed so we make excuses for people who weren't raised well and then allowed to make more money than people who are smart like me or smarter will ever see.

I have nothing against the guy but he is still being enabled by his success and his money and a sports organization.

..that said...before all this tv stuff/channels...all I knew about Jerry Rice was he could catch a ball real good. It wasn't till he retired that I realized he couldn't hold a conversation to save his life....

I get that Media Day is part of the Super Bowl experience, but no one really ever says much of great interest, it helps reporters/media types get human interest stories and for the most part you get politically correct answers to game related questions.

As someone who went to school to be a history teacher, and am a substitute teacher for now, should I feel comfortable standing in front of a science class? My point is, that while dealing with the media is job related not everyone is comfortable doing the same things.

I'm not sure what everyone wants, he met his obligation, even if it was a bare minimum. He's not a comfortable speaker, that's okay.

next year the league should simply tell each team...give us x amount of players for media day and make sure most of them are key players that people want to hear from and they wont fine others who don't show up because Lynch was clearly nervous and uncomfortable..we all know that anxiety

1) I want you to pay me millions of dollars, which is supported by the NFL, which is supported by the media;
2) But I don't want to talk to the media;
3) And I don't want to pay a fine for not talking to the media, even though my agreement with the NFL says I have to;
4) And I've never had the SuperBowl experience before, but I don't want to take it all in and show that to the media;
5) And I don't want to show any emotion or appreciation to the fans and the media, all of whom without I would not be getting millions of dollars.

But please still do pay me and don't fine me.:bullshit:

Hater: Sherman should shut his mouth and let his play on the field do the talking....

Hater: you know what Lynch is paid million of dollars he needs to quit whining and talk to the damn media....

haters gonna hate. hypocrites gonna hypocrite.

Simply not wanting to do something your employer asks of you is one thing.

Having a physical/psychological issue that makes it very hard to do something your employer asks of you is another.

Its all speculation, but I tend to think Lynch has some sort of social anxiety condition or something. That said, unless he goes to the NFL and tells them that (who knows if he has) you can't blame the NFL for holding him to the same standard as everyone else.
