Sapp's type of production is rare at DT. But across the board, Strahan had more production. Both guys deserve to be in the HoF.

I just can't wait for John Abraham to pass Strahan for #5 on the career sacks list next season.

Sapp is a buffoon and should not be paid attention to

He is, but he was a heck of a football player. Can't deny that. But I can't stand anything on ESPN, it's the View for men. I certainly can't handle the NFL network. Hardly anything is about the game anymore, it's all about the BS and creating drama and stories. If it wasn't for my dad having it on when I visit, I'd never be subjected to that garbage.

I used to like watching Warren Sapp play but as soon as he hung up the helmet and started talking, all that came out was stupidity. Strahan will get in but Sapp was right about the sack record. I remember seeing that play by Favre and it was thoroughly disgusting. Might as well have been playing in the pro bowl. Regardless, I like Michael Strahan and he is a heck of a lot more intelligent than the fat man. Love the McD's comeback.

As for the HOF, I honestly don't care about it. All the halls are a joke anyway these days but Strahan will get in and is just as deserving as Sapp.
I remember that sack....what BS! I do feel that Strahan will get in. I would recommend that only two players get in per year as some IMO who are in the HOF are really not worthy of such an honor. It should be just the GOATs players who are in there....not just a body count.

Sapp looks like a whiny little bitch with the way he is acting on this.

NFL wise, they are both HoF material (minus the unprofessionalism on Sapps part)

It is obvious Strahan is a stand up guy compared to Sapp...

Sapp isn't right but I'm all for people throwing shade at Strahan. Fuck that guy. He's vastly overrated as TV host/celebrity. 99% of what he does is cheesy cornball garbage but he gets a pass because he's got a goofy gap-toothed smile. So yeah, he's a HOF, but get off my TV.

Sapp's right about that sack record though. That last sack was bogus. Hated it at the time and have been rooting for someone to break it every time a player gets close.

Sapp is a douche. But I agree with him that there are more deserving candidates in front of Strahan.

When I see Sapp and his perpetual bobbling head, I instantly turn the channel. He is the most annoying analyst ever. I hate the way he talks, smiles, laughs et cetera.

There were more deserving people in front of Sapp when he got elected as well. What is your point?

Derrick Brooks is the only HOF finalist this year who I think is clearly a stronger candidate than Strahan. My guess is that both get in, along with Walter Jones and two or three others.

OK, like who?

Sapp was one of the best players of his generation and a legit first ballot player. Strahan was a great player too, but didn't have the type of impact on his defense that Sapp did. As an interior pass rusher, Sapp is probably the best to ever do it.

Sapp's attack could also be seen as multi-purposed
Derrick Brooks is up for vote as well so he, of course, is throwing his considerable weight to DB
John Lynch is also up for vote. He isn't going to make it this round, if ever, maybe Sapp is trying influence voters.

Sapp's play on the field was amazing (I didn't see Strahan play as much). Most fans loved Sapp on the field but couldn't stand him off of it (lot of local bad publicity on how he interacted with fans).

Interesting that you think Sapp was the better player. Both were obviously great, but after reading your comment it made me think that DTs who are as disruptive to opposing offenses as Sapp was are probably rarer (and perhaps even more valuable) than a DE like Strahan.

Yeah Sapp was better, but Strahan was a 4 time 1st team all pro and made 7 pro bowls. He's a legit HOFer no doubt.

They are imo. A disruption on the inside that is constantly in the QBs face and blowing up run plays is more impactful than an edge rusher.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – If it wasn’t personal before, it definitely is now.
Hall of Famer Warren Sapp took his feud with Michael Strahan to a new low Wednesday when he made reference to the Giants legend’s “gap tooth” and challenged him to a one-on-one meeting anytime, anywhere.
“Pick the spot and I’ll come see you and you can have a dose of it,” Sapp said of Strahan on CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome show. “If you think that’s what it is, pick the spot and I’ll come see you.”

Sapp took issue with being called a “coward” earlier this week after criticizing Strahan’s Hall of Fame credentials — again — to the media. But Sapp said he was merely listing him below Walter Jones, Derrick Brooks, Marvin Harrison and Tony Dungy and didn’t deserve such a harsh reaction.
“He took it to a level that it didn’t need to be,” Sapp said of Strahan. “I was just talking about his resume. I didn’t say anything about his gap tooth or his ‘S’ words or his ‘F’ words that I don’t understand. What the hell is he saying? So if he wants to go personal we can go personal, but I was just stacking his resume against the class.”
Strahan played his entire 15-year career with the Giants and set the NFL’s single-season record with 22.5 sacks in 2001. He’s fifth on the all-time list with 141.5 sacks.
Sapp, who has slammed Strahan’s Hall of Fame candidacy before, was elected to Canton last year in his first time on the ballot. This is Strahan’s second time as a finalist.
“What did I say that was so bad?” Sapp said. “Tell me? That’s why I’m trying to figure it out. I was just talking about the class. He called me a coward, really?”

I don't know if this started the feud but I do recall when Favre laid down so Strahan could get the sack record that Sapp called them both out for it.

Strahan was clearly a better player than Sapp. The only thing Sapp could do was stuff the run and line. He seemed more like a Vince Wilfork type of player to me. Strahan on the other hand was more powerful and talented and left his career early.

Okay...that is way different than what I watched on a weekly basis. Sapp was a terror to QBs (remember his battles with Favre?).

Also, Sapp had 16.5 sacks in 2000. That is from the interior of the line, not the end like Strahan.

Not exactly sure, but I think that Sapp also had about 100 sacks. Pretty outstanding for a dt.
