Here is why: We have Garcon, Hank, and Robinson returning. Hank is coming off an ACL and Robinson is very inconstant. Assuming we don't grab a WR in FA. Decker is the best one out there but I don't think we pay him good money to come here. As a whole I think the FA WR class is very week this year.

We have to draft a WR with our 2nd round pick. I believe 5 WR's will be drafted in the first round this year(Watkins, Lee, Evans, Benjamin, and Robinson). Robinson might slip to the 2nd round but I think he goes first. That leaves us with Beckham, Matthews, and Cooks. I like Cooks out of this group. He compares to Tavon Austin and could help in the return game plus he gives us an actual deep threat.

This is assuming that Hall, Rak, and Riley come back. Plus we bring in Talib, Saffold, and Mack in FA. I also think Skov and Borland will be there with our 3rd round pick to address the ILB spot. The only glaring weakness would be OG. Safety could also be a problem but I think Thomas steps up for us. Plus Hall could be moved to FS with Amerson and Talib as our CB's

What do you guys think? I know its early.

you draft the best player available at a position of need 1st and it can be at any position of need as long as value is there

if you cant get value at that spot then you simply draft the BPA

so although wr is the deepest position in this draft i wouldnt lock into any one position

Exactly BPA at S, CB, WR, ILB. IF you can't find anyone of value in those positions you like then trade the pick.

Of course, we might always trade up if we see someone we fall in love with Maybe package a Cousins and our second for a First?

I select ....None of the above, Beckham Matthews and Cooks are all too small. What this team lacks is a big target, a guy who can be counted on to go up and get passes that only he can get. So I'm looking for 6' 3" or better. BTW; the team did just sign David Gettis who has the speed and stature to fill this void. He is coming off injury, however in the one season that he did play he finished with decent numbers as a starter and was..........(now this is important).............a potent kick returner.

I should have included that position in there.

The BPA at #34 is going to be WR b/c it is the deepest position in the draft. Matthews is 6'3 Stymietee. I lock in on WR b/c all we have right now is Garcon, Hank(coming off injury), and Robinson. Gettis is a huge ? If we bypass a Wr in FA and don't get a WR in the draft in either the 2nd or 3rd round I will be very upset b/c this is the year to draft a WR.

jy19 if we can package Cousins and a 2nd to draft Watkins or Clowney I would do it in a heartbeat. Those are the only two guys who are worth trading up for. Very doubtful though. IF we somehow get a 2nd for Cousins I would stay pat and draft an OG. Cooks and Richardson would be ideal.

This probably the first time I wouldn't be against a WR with our 2nd(first pick) pick because the receivers coming out have a high ceiling. But yeah Cooks is a pure slot guy...he's 180 lbs and under 6ft. I wouldn't pick him, when A.Robinson and Hankerson CAN'T play the #2 but are great slots. A different WR at 2 wouldn't upset me. DE has been ignored for waaay too long...if we can't address it properly in FA, as mentioned Tuitt and Ealy are REAL possibilities with upside in the 3-4

I will take a wait and see approach and see what we do in FA. I am not against us getting a WR in FA, if it is the right person and the price is not completely over the top. I like Decker and Edleman (who can also return kicks) in addition to a couple of others.

I do wonder if the deepest draft WR class in recent memory will keep the prices reasonable wrt the available FA WRs. WR needy teams may not be so quick to give guys like Decker, Nicks, Edelman, etc. max $$$ if they know there are very good options even up into Round 3. The FO can play the game and see what happens. We may even be able to get a 2nd tier guy on the cheap because other teams have their eyes on the draft prize. No crazy $$$ for a FA WR IMO though. I will agree though that getting one in the draft is certainly an option. I am with j_y and dad...if a stud 1st rounder falls to at 34..then take him (I don't see that happening). If we are looking at a guy who is not a projected 1st rounder .. then move on at another position...

Speaking of pick #34....it is basically a low first round pick. We are going to have 2 or 3 guys that have 1st round grades in our war room fall to us. I think they need to take one of those guys...BPA at a position of need (like many of you have said).

You also have to consider that there will be 1st rounders sitting there that other teams are VERY interested in. The late first and early second always seems (at least to me) like there is alot of movement and people trading up to get QBs and other marquee talent that slipped out of the first round.

So if that happens..what do you do?? Take the first round talent...or trade back and pick up another teams' 2nd and 3rd or 4th rounder?? Its a roll of the dice at that point.

This is why Allen gets paid the big bucks. It all just depends on who is available to us and what we might get. Its a real possibility that the 34th pick will be in play, up or down.

Wherever we draft a receiver we have to make a hit.

How did so many teams miss on Marvin jones. MVP of senior bowl. Drafted in the 5th round
Or Keenan Allen pick 76 overall, third round. Stud in college. Guys are out there

Oh I agree. There are some guys out there. This outfit has done a poor job of drafting and developing WRs though, we'll see with the new regime. I think Allen has a lot of upside, Jones may be a #2 at best. I think he may be a product of alot of double teams and such on AJ Green and company. Both had up and down seasons, but Allen looks to be an elite WR going forward IMO. He was 2nd round talent but slipped somehow.

I would love for us to draft a WR like Benjamin at 34. But we definetly could take care of WR in FA. And i agree that you have to look at BPA for most positions. I would still love to get a guy like Tuitt. Plenty of options for us.

Here's a question for you all. Gruden used Bernard for 55 catches on the Bengals. A RB with pass catching skills will be a must in Washington. First of all having a RB run who can run underneath routes well will give Griffin an outlet while he is still learning. Gruden mentioned on the day he was announced that Alf would have to work on his hands. My question, where do we get that guy? Is it Helu, someone else, the draft, FA? I think that is going to be a very important position for the Redskins this year.

That's a really good point. He called out Al with that statement. Robert needs a reliable safety valve (and needs to learn to use them). I'm not sure if Al has good hands or not, we've never really thrown to him much. Helu can catch and run. The problem is when he comes in, it signals the defense that its most likely a pass play. So, if its not Al and Jay requires an every down back to be able to run patterns and have reliable hands, do you look to trade Al and find another? If you could get a 1st for Al, would you do it? As much as I love the guy, I'd seriously consider it if I could get a 1st.

FA WR's are always overpaid. Decker, Eldeman, and Nicks are looking to cash in. The draft is where we find a WR. Cooks can take the top off defenses he is the no brainer pick unless a player like Benjamin drops but that is highly unlikely. Matthews is the same as hankerson and Beckham is the same as Robinson. Cooks should be the WR.

As far as trading ALF. Yes if you can get a first round pick you do it in a heartbeat. Helu, Jamieson, and Thompson could be the backs. RB is the easiest position to fill. I doubt we would be offered a first round pick for ALF, but the Colts did give up a first for Richardson so I got my fingers crossed.

I have faith that Alfred will get much better this offseason at catching. He is too valuable in my opinion

If you can land a top 16 overall pick you have to do it. That would mean guys like M. Lee ,T. Lewan or a top CB. Much more valuable than Alf. Alf is not a 3 down back meaning he is expendable.

I love alf as much as anyone but rbs just aren't worth a first round pick.they're too easy to replace so I'd definitely trade him for a first.
