what a joke. McCown was the reason why they had a shot at the playoffs. He has played only one full season with the bears when he had 27 Td but also has 26 INt's.

Snyder would have given him 25 million, a 1st rounder, partial ownership and season tickets for his family for life.

All I heard so far is its a 7 year deal, so its probably 120-130 plus.

I never said he was the answer. But to invest 18-20 mil a season for Cutler is a huge risk for a Qb that never made a pro bowl or have a playoff win. So top 15 qb's make 18-20 million a year? lol. That is almost half the league.

No offense but you really appear to know very little about the QB position. McCown will be 35 next season & is a journeyman. He put together a handful of good games this year. Prior to this time his stats & play were marginal at best. I also believe that he has hinted at retirement. As a coach or GM are you going to place your franchise in his hands for the next few years? No freaking way.

Beyond that - if you try to find another QB you have to start all over again which is tough. Sticking with Cutler is probably the right move even if he has struggled recently.

You are the same person who was advocating trading RG3 & going with Cousins as the new starting QB which is laughable. How about a little patience & common sense in this area?

OK - let's say that you don't re-sign Cutler (which probably has to be done at the rate mentioned above at the risk of losing him to another team). Assuming McCown is not the answer what do the Bears do for the QB position. It would be a major risk to stay average at that position given all of the other weapons on offense. It is fine to say get rid of someone, but you have to have someone else to take their place - not that easy at the QB position.

I never said Mcown was the guy socal. You don't give a qb 18-20 mil a year when he hasn't won anything and he is a decent QB. Doesn't money mean anything to you guys?

No one is Fa was going to give Cutler that kind of money in the first place. Especially this years QB draft class. I think the Bears bid against themselves. In my opinion I don't think Cutler is a top 10 QB in this league but they paid him as he was a top 5 Qb and that baffles me. The deal just destroys your cap.

Yep. They are not going to get Bridgewater (unless they trade the farm). Beyond that - again - given the type of weapons they possess are you going to risk it on an unknown at QB? Might be a sure fire way for the coach to ensure a short future with the team. Comparing the contract with others is also very misleading. A lot of that has to do with the fact that the more recently signed QBs will make more than the ones signed several years ago. It is that simple.

I don't know right off the top of my head but I wouldn't pay Cutler Rodgers, Ryan, Brady, and Flacco. kind of money. The deal destroys their cap. Again, they outbid themselves.

There are always other options. You don't give a guy a 100 million contract unless he is a top player at his position or he has won for you. Cutler is neither. Again, who are the Bears bidding against. Why wouldnt you wait until FA. No team gives him that deal.
