I'd make Alonso DROY and Andy Reid COY (mainly because I think everyone expected the Seahawks to be good while the Chiefs were coming off a 2-14 season), but other than that I agree.

I'm a Seahawks homer so take this for what its worth: Pete Carroll deserves it IMO because of the savvy moves he's made to build the deepest roster in the NFL. He's won the most games in possibly the hardest division in the League, and he's done it with no-name WR's, TE's and LB's for the most part, plus he lost 3/5 of his offensive line for 2/3's of the season.

Just the same, if Reid won I'd be ok with that too, but he didn't build the Chiefs the same way that Carroll built the Seahawks.

The voters love stats and there isn't another player within a mile of Manning's stats this season. The only thing that may sway voters is if Manning fails to beat Brady's records for TD's and Brees' record for Yards.

To be honest, the Seahawks have surprised me more this season than KC. Chiefs were far too good to be 2-14 last season. Have only won one game I didn't see them winning I think. Assumed playoffs for them. Didn't assume Seatle would take the division. But Id still vote for Reid over Pete. Quite the turnaround even if it was with an already stacked defense and Jamaal Charles. I'd consider Kelly, Rivera and Payton also, depending on how the divisions shake out. (Larry Warford, RG for my Lions should get some ROY votes. Kids been incredible, despite a hold on MNF.)

Not sure why he wouldn't be. Who do you have that is close I guess would be my question? He leads in pretty much every major category for what is considered the most important position in the NFL. He is about to set individual records for a quarterback plus team records that could possibly consider this the best offense to have ever played in the NFL. So again not sure who would be close. I would say unless Brees just goes crazy or Jamaal Charles finishes his last 2 games exactly how he played last Sunday I don't see how it could be considered close.

That's executive of the year you're making points for, not coach of the year. The Chiefs underachieved last season, but did anyone really think they'd be this good? I thought they'd win around 8 games, with 10 being the most if everything went right. Instead they're tied with Denver for the best record in the AFC. I just think you have to reward them for that.

My (flimsy) argument the Pete. Look at Houston, Atlanta, Green Bay, New York G, Pitt

All teams who people thought would make the playoffs, even battle for the 1 seed (again for atl)

Nothing is guarenteed in the nfl. Seattle has dealt with plenty of adversity, 3 of 5 starting oline out for half the year. going on 4th and 5th string corners now. Never got anything out of their big offseason pickup in harvin.....Lost number 1 receiver in Rice. And seattle hasn't missed a beat.

I know its chique to reward a turnaround. But why not give credit for actually living up to the hype and expectations.

Carroll was instrumental in the draft picks. Wilson was his guy for example. And even if that is more of an argument for Executive of the year Carroll still made the "coaching" decision to start rookies (like Wilson) over older guys. He made training camp a true competition at every position. Carroll has taken a college philosophy into the NFL that everyone said would fail. Instead the team is thriving and the players have bought in.

I'm duly impressed with what Reid has done too, but that team had the second most pro-bowl players of any roster in football before he took over. Reid basically needed a half decent QB and the rest of the team was in place. Add in that KC plays in weaker division/conference and has a poorer record than Carroll and I think it becomes a pretty close contest. Either guy could win and it would make sense, but I think the Seahawks have been a more impressive squad this year. I'm biased as hell though so I see what I want too. :suds:

If he breaks Tom Brady's TD record, he will be. You can't NOT give it to him at that point.

Agreed, if he does break the records then there is no other choice... But what if he doesnt?? is there really no other competition for the award???

99% chance he will. He's sitting at 47 and needs 3 in 2 games to do it. At this point defenses would have to have sick performances or he'd have to get injured.

That being said if he DOES miss it they might go with Drew Brees of the Saints. They usually give this to a RB or QB and Drew is the next man up on the QB list. LeShaun McCoy leads all RB's right now but I don't know that he's been outstanding enough.

Well he is already in the top 5 for Touchdown passes in a season and only 1 person in the top 5 has not won the award and that was Drew Brees who was beaten by the guy who is 6th on the list in Aaron Rodgers who set the record for highest passer rating in NFL history by a quarterback. At this point 5 of the top 10 touchdown seasons by quarterbacks have won the award and most likely will be 6 of the top 10 by the end of the season with Peyton already on the list. Drew Brees is on the list twice and was beaten by Rodgers who is on the list and then Adrian Peterson last year who had one of the top 3 running back seasons of all-time. Matthew Stafford is another on the list who again was beaten by Aaron Rodgers. So 2 of the 4 in the top 10 that didn't win the award were beaten by another in that same season who is in the top 10. Then another was beaten by a historical season by AP. The final one is Dan Marino is 1986 beaten by LT who had what today is considered one of the greatest defensive seasons in NFL history.

So to me if you are beaten for the MVP it is because of some other player putting up historical numbers (don't see anybody at this point that is doing that).

This is not really my opinion of who I think should get the awards...just who I think they will go to. Awards are really just trophies to players....even the MVP award.

He does weather reports in NJ as well? :gaah: He will win the award by default when the blizzard hits and no team or fan can make it to the game on time.......location changed to a more tolerant climate or dome game.

No way K Allen beats out Lacy for OROY. He missed one game from a concussion and has had 2nd and 3rd string qbs to work with for 7 games and he's still 7th overall in rushing
