he did everything he could to help us win and it didnt work out that way
Dad, I think that RG3 did everything he thought was right to help us win. But, in hindsight, in may not have been what the team needed. His focus appeared to be all on his physical recovery, which is understandable. But he set a goal, all in for week 1, which may have put unrealistic expectations on him and the coaching staff and appeared to be very inflexible about coming off of that, and that was all him. He put Shanahan in a bind when he made statements like "they promised me that I would start week 1". What we know now is that he wasn't ready to play. Physically, maybe he was with the exception of rust. Mentally, clearly he wasn't. I don't fault him hard for this, he is young and had no idea what it was like to be mentally prepared to be an NFL QB. Where I might fault him some is that I don't think he would have listened if anyone suggested that he wasn't ready for week 1. He just assumed that if he could run and throw, he could be an NFL QB. So RG3 is not without fault on this. Neither is Shanahan. He is the HC. IF he felt RG3 wasn't ready and did not give the team the best opportunity to play, then he should have sat him until he did.
I'll say it again. I think one of the major issues that many have with RG3 is his hubris and his "me" centric statements such as "I give the team the best opportunity to win" even tho he has a destroyed knee (after the Seattle game), or "all in for Week 1" irregardless of he hasn't taken a live snap all preseason. This mentality may be what he thinks is best for the team, but he needs to learn to temper his message and consult and listen to his coaches and senior teammates before making such proclamations.
Its all a learning process and hopefully he learns from this.
i want my qb to believe he is the best chance to win maybe he should have sat longer but i am not sure that would have fixed the flaws he has . now its all the mental aspect
I am in no hurry to trade the guy. He could be the best QB in the city but it is too early to say that. Today's story on the other network is Shanahan wants to stay but he wants assurances he can play the best player.
Sportster, lets be real. RG3 is going to be the QB for the Skins. The owner spent a shitload for him and personally is invested in him. Also, Shanahan is gone. Snyder will hire a new coach with the explicit understanding that it is their job to turn RG3 into a pro bowler. I don't make a judgement if this is right or not, just that it is.
SO we have many holes to fill and not 1st round pick. Kirk is a luxury we can't afford right now. I would love to keep him and have an open competition. It would make both of them better. But we are trading Kirk, assuming we can get a 2nd or more. That's just the way it is.
