I think this will be a good debate. What seed do you want the 49ers to get. With Carolina losing to the Saints the 49ers have a shot at the 6th seed. Who would you rather play.

6th Seed vs Dallas or Philly
5th Seed vs Lions

In my opinion it doesn't matter but I guess if I had to pick it would be Dallas,Det and then Philly. Philly has a lot of weapons and Lions have C. Johnson. Dallas has no D and their offense is up and down.

Hard to believe Dallas will make it, they seem to be unraveling. But I agree they would be my first choice of teams to face.

probably of all those teams Philly is the one we don't want, but I can't imagine losing to any of them.

Don't be fooled by Philly, they are not physical at all and their speed won't endure vs our defense through the whole game.... offensively we should have our way with them as well, who's to be afraid of?

I feel comfortable vs the NFC East, should also feel ok vs Detroit but its at their home and Megatron is Megatron for a reason....

Kap's legs vs the lions DL should be an advantage for us, thus it should open our passing game. Gore will beast no matter what.

We can clinch this week with:

1. We win- cardinals lose- Dallas loses

2. We win-cardinals lose- eagles lose/tie

I don't fear Philly, their running game will stall against are d and their o-line is not a great pass blocking unit. Their d is poor against the pass and aren't good against the run either. The only team I wouldn't want to face is the bears I think they are going to end up taking Detroit spot.

Packers? You are kidding right? You think its a possibility that we loose out every game from here on in, and they win every game and we have to travel to Green Bay? LOL, I feel confident counting out that scenario. that scenario could end with both the packers and niners missing the playoffs.

I wouldn't mind playing philly at home, but not back east. I just think thats a long way to go to play in the elements and then have to come back and possibly travel to Seattle? That would be brutal.

Since we are going to be a wild card team, we are going to be on the road regardless of what the team does. I mean odds are we would play philly, or detriot/Chicago. All three of those teams are back east and then we have to travel to the seahawks or the saints either way the road to the superbowl is going to be brutal. We have had the easy road the last two years and have not taking advantage of it so now lets see if we can do it on the road with far more obstacles.

Like I been saying it might be better being the wild card after these last couple of years of success from wild card teams.

I think the real question is whether we want Seattle in Seattle or New Orleans in New Orleans in round 2. I would prefer New Orleans, which means we need the 5 seed.

If we lose to GB/Dal/Det/Chi/Phi/whomever, it doesn't matter. We would not deserve anything anyway.

Umm are you stupid??? If Packers win the division (I think they are a half game out) we would have to go to Green Bay if we matched up seeding wise

for me it doesn't matter for Round 2, cause both teams are tough at home. either way our offense has to wake up and even more so in New Orleans.

if we hope to reach the SB, odds are we need to play both at their homes? so looking at Round 2 AND 3 together, guess New Orleans first, Seattle next? so our D won't be as physically worn down battling the Beast?

You never know if caroline goes to seattle and upsets them and we take care of new Orleans the stick might have one last playoff game.

This is my thinking. If we are the 6, than we likely go to Seattle, then play at Carolina or at New Orleans. If we are the 5, then we start in New Orleans, and have a chance of hosting Carolina.

I am going with the assumption that SF and Carolina win in the first round. That is a large assumption, but the NFC really is a 4-team conference, so you have to start with something.

Win out and we get the 5th seed. This would be great news because that means we would get CArolina or Saints in the 2nd rd.

Best Case. Carolina beats the saints. We get the 5th and they get the 6th seed.
Rd 1" Lions vs Saints
RD 1 Eagles vs 49ers

If we win
RD 2: Saints vs Seattle
RD 2 Carolina vs SF

THis is best case.

Good call, the Car and Saints game in in Car, hopefully they win and we would have to go to Car instead of NO

This would be great news for the 49ers and it would give seattle a tough game against the Saints and say the saints win and we win we would get a home game for the NFC Championship game. That would be a great way to send off candlestick Park.
