Okay, just looked it up and I stand by my claim that Cutler has a pronounced history of turning the ball over too frequently, even since his 26 INT '09 season. Since then he has thrown 45 picks and fumbled 23 times in 48 games. Not exactly numbers that suggest to me that ball security is Cutler's strength.

Both turn the ball over alot:suds:

career stats

GP TD/INT Fumbles
cutler 101 149/108 61

mccown 57 50/45 43

Cutler clearly gives the Bears a better chance to win. The question is whether that improved chance is enough to give him the megadeal he'll want. That is a much closer question.

Fumbles should not even be brought into the debate because we all know Cutler played behind one of the worst OL in football the last several years in Chicago. Not until this year has it improved. When a QB constantly takes big hits, of course he's gonna fumble.

If you want to look at INTs, YES he was terrible his first year in Chicago. He had 27 TDs and 26 INTs, a bad ratio. But again the last 4 seasons his ratio has been pretty good. Not an elite 2 to 1 ratio, but it has been solid. He has 68 TDs and 45 INTs the last 4 seasons. That's far from having a big problem with INTs. People really overstate it when they claim Cutler is an INT machine. He really only had 1 season in his career that he was an INT machine. God Bless...

I'll say one thing, as a die hard packer fan I am positively thrilled the bears are going back to cutler!

Cutler. He was playing well before the injury. He has all the physical talent in the world. I don't get why people discredit him so much. I guess his personality rubs people the wrong way.

Because he's a major jerk and no one likes him....That being said, McCown is on a fluke run that's all...He's a backup and always was for a reason, Cutler gives them the best chance to win if healthy....You could reason that you keep McCown in til his luck runs out but if it costs them a game now, it could be too late to change...

I think I stay with McCown because he's in a rhythm and it's so late in the year.

If it were the start of the season you still have time for Cutler to get back to where he was but with things running as tightly as they are, AND this late in the year, you're better off sticking with the hot hand.

RG3 is smarter and more physically talented than cutler.

If you were honest you would say RG3 was more physically talented. He has been a shadow of what he was in his rookie year. Time to sit back and see about RG3, will he ever get back to what he was? Nobody knows.

I don't believe there is a player in the league less mentally talented than cutler. Romo maybe?

RG3 is not to blame for this season. Not only does he have a handful of roster worthy players on either side of the ball, but the coaching staff is terrible. One of the worst in the league. If you put Peyton or Brady on that team they're lucky to be .500.

And if putting in cutler costs them a game now its too late to change back as well. He should be able to shake off the rust against CLE and the bears should win but you never know..

All of McCowns great games were against terrible defenses. How can anyone be confident that McCown would have been able to do what Cutler did today? Cutler put up a 102 passer rating against a good defense.
