I wouldn't give up a seventh for Gordon. I'd do a first plus for fitz.

Not saying you are, but that would be a stupid move...you guys have brought in worse character guys and had success.

If I were the patriots, lions, cowboys or saints I'd be offering a #1 pick for Gordon or fitz.

For Fitz sure but Gordon 3rd at best.

Either way the Pats do not have a lot of cap space, just signed Collie, drafted three WRs, and need more bodies on defense that is where we are beat up.

Gordon doesn't have the talent to be worth it.

I've heard this one, Panthers trade Jonathan Stewart to the Giants for Hakeem Nicks.

Plus for Carolina - get some WR help, unload a huge contract
Minus for Carolina - Nicks will probably leave at the end of the season as a FA

Plus for NY - help at RB, which they really need
Minus for NY - Stewart's big cap number and he has not played since last year, is only now coming off the PUP list.

IDK if I like this but it is fair trade value. Cap relief can help but I don't think Nicks will help that much in our passing game.

Oh, okay...I'll let that be your opinion, but I think he's better than what you have.

Not a 1st, but I'd give a conditional 3rd for him for certain.

Really? Tough crowd...you guys need another WR in a bad, bad way...to off load that contract I'd do this in a heartbeat in CAR...I think CAR can sell Nicks on staying...they have enough money to pay him #2 WR money which is what he's going to get on the open market most likely.

I would do it in a heartbeat if the Giants wanted to, never know, you may get Nicks to re-sign with you guys. Didn't he play his college ball at UNC?

More and more I think about it, I think Tony G will end up getting traded.

I am happy with what we have. But being an upgrade wouldn't make him worthy of a third. Maybe he's worth that without off the field concerns. With issues, he's not worth it.

He has said he doesn't want to move and forcing him to would lose the falcons more than they get back.

Bottom line is this, unless its Fitz and unless that deal is good a WR won't happen. Gordon would be an upgrade to current situation IMO.

Fair point...I think there are just plain ole bad seeds and they will always be that way...and some guys just need to grow up ( like the WR from JAX, Blackmon who was in some trouble, heck even Dez Bryant)...being a young guy...I'm thinking growing up is part of what Gordon needs...keep him on a short rope.

More and more I think about it, I think Tony G will end up getting traded.

From listening to him 2 weeks ago, and listening to him this week...I get the sense something could happen.

Essentially he went from no he's fighting it out here in ATL...to "it's up to the team" this week.

He doesn't start here and there is limited potential for him to start here. They have already invested in young guys with similarly bright futures and without the concerns and Gordon isn't worth starting over for. You don't give up a real pick for that, and I don't think he's talented enough that I would take snaps from anyone but Austin collie for him, assuming no compensation. They all need them to continue their progressions.

With that in mind, what do you think would be a trade that makes sense for both teams?

Mine? Greg Jennings to New England for a 3rd round pick, or even a 2nd...and the Pats should pay it...

We don't need another WR that badly and I don't think Nicks would be that much of an improvement over what we already have. The idea is that Nicks would be the #2 WR. Currently we have Brandon Lafell who catches 58% of the balls thrown to him while Nicks has caught 50% (I know that stat includes overthrows, throw aways etc but still). We run more than we pass (202 passing attempts to 228 rushing attempts. Nicks averages over 15 yards per catch but our passing game, right now, relies on short passes 7-8 yards rather than the deep ball. Getting rid of a big contract will help long term but we really don't gain that much. If people were screaming the Panthers are just a WR away from being SB contenders then I'd say get Nicks. For what we are doing right now, and having success at it, I'd say we'd be better off with another big pass catching TE.

I understand the Giants are having a down year, and maybe that's making people think Nicks isn't as good as thought, but Nicks is a #1 WR on most teams. There are not 10 WRs in this league with more physical talent than him. I understand the stone hands problem, but the catches he does make makes up for it in a big way.
