I would love to agree with you but my takeaway after that game was that we aren't good enough to compete with top tier teams. We got dominated for a half and were able to do a little damage control in the second.

Hey if the defense plays like this every week. Conway is really coming along............. Fiso is starting to play well. The linebackers are understanding the scheme and where they need to be. We still aren't good enough to win vs top tier teams but we could definitely compete with Stanford if we played them now.

Since you are the first one I will critique yours.

Eliminate Notre Dame, Texas, and Michigan. I would not have eliminated Clemson. I have them 10th. Michigan St maybe but no more than 24th. Stanford deserves to be 5th based on playing a much tougher schedule. OU is ranked too high, I have them 19th.

I posted that I forgot Clemson and stated they are tied at 15 in my poll with Fresno St. Asked a mod to edit.

Michigan and MSU are both 6-1 and control their own destiny. I favor Michigan to come out on top but I can't look past MSU being 3-0 and in first place in the division.

Stanford is the best 1 loss team IMO but I'm gonna give respect to teams who have beat everyone they faced half way through this season. Only Tech and the mid majors are below Stanford with a better record. You have them 5th, I have them 9th. Not that much separation.

OU suffered the injury bug before the Texas game, so they get a pass. Just like the one given to Georgia after their Missouri loss. Tech is up next and we will know if OU is ready to make a late season run, like they have done many times in the past. They are fine at 12 because if they win out, they will be top 10 easily.

I'll do a full list later, but I've got Wisconsin at 15-20 as my best 2-loss team. Not a lot of two loss teams whose losses were both true road games at night, by less than 7 points, to an undefeated #4 and because of an officiating fuck-up.

The only thing that warrants top 25 consideration is the defense. They have no true 1# receiver. The running game has been decent, but needs to improve. The QB play has been average at best. Their best win so far is over a 5-2 East Carolina team who lost to Tulane.

It seems that to some voters they just about a team as an entirety, they don't care about defense, they want the high flying, put up 60pts a game (and give up 59 points a game) teams with great O's and high school D's. Defensive dominance isn't as sexy as 600 yards through the air every week.

The offense in general has been dreadful. That's why you are going to fall short when you face anyone with a good defense and very good offense. 82nd in passing, 106th in rushing, 96th in scoring. That's pretty bad. The team as a whole has a very good defense and a very bad offense.

To be fair, you guys haven't convincingly beaten anyone this year aside from WCU.

"Several"? No. There are three other 2-loss teams ahead of Wisconsin in the AP poll. I'll leave LSU in front actually... forgot they had a second loss (and they beat Auburn).

But I've got Wisconsin ahead of A&M (no defense) and South Carolina. Please tell me what quality win either of those two have that's any better than a beatdown of Northwestern. And yes, one of Wisconsin's losses has a huge asterisk next to it.

There hasn't been an offense that has been able to move the ball even remotely convincingly on our defense all season.

And the Pitt game was a beat down. We had 4 drives stall out and finish with chip shot FGs, another short FG we missed, and Pitts only touchdown came in garbage time.

Our offense isn't good, but we've also played 3 top 20 defenses so far this year.
