So you want to trade away your security blanket. WHEN RGIII gets hurt again, what viable option do you have for a backup? We traded a proven player in Alex Smith. If Kaepernick goes down, yeah, it's Colt McCoy time.

Dude, with our OL, Cousins doesn't stand a chance to be successful. If RG3 goes down, its a lost cause anyway. Neither does Morris. Hell, if we don't fill some holes, it doesn't make any difference who our QB is.
So you would rather have a security blanket at QB and be a 4-6 win team as opposed to taking the chance with RG3's health, fill some holes, become a regular contender and run the risk that if RG3 gets hurt that we may suffer in that season alone. I'll take the chance with the upside of when RG3 is healthy, we can contend. Right now, even with RG3 coming back into form, we can't contend. Last year was a fluke, our defense, while they played great last night, is still very poor. Our STs suck. And our offensive line cannot pass block. Until we fix these other issues or we can get Cousins to block for RG3, we will not win consistently. We need his slot.
Is your OL worse than last years? I am asking an honest question because I don't know. What I do know is, Cousins came in last year and played well, behind the same offensive line as RGIII. I understand your point but I don't agree with it. Your owner is the reason you are in this position to begin with.

no don't trade Cousin, in fact i'd be half way tempted to start him over RG3 right now. It's not like RG3 is playing great, teams have caught on to the read option and RG3 is throwing the ball like shit. Some of those throws he made last night were worse than some of Tebow's throws. Plus RG3 isn't going through his reads, he just lock onto one WR and lets it rip.
Let's not overstate the situation. Cousins played well for a series against the Ravens & one game against the Browns. He had mixed results in his limited time against the Falcons. You can't just assume that he will do well for several of the reasons pointed out in this thread.
There have been tons of QBs who look good in limited duty that come back down to earth when asked to do more (e.g. Matt Flynn).
Anyhow - the Redskins have lots of problems that need to be addressed. I am against a trade of Cousins in-season but would certainly not be against it during the offseason given the right price.
Also - confused about your Snyder comment. I actually give him props for how he has handled things during the last 3-4 years. He has basically stayed out of personnel matters - as he should - during that time. Not sure how you blame everything on him. Sounds like a pretty uneducated comment to me.
So cal, not sure if your comments were directed toward my post or not, but I don't blame snyder solely for our predicament, but he dug us a pretty deep hole for 10 years that we are still trying to climb out of. And lets be honest, our cap penalty, while probably unwarranted and unfair, was a risk that he and the front office took fully aware of the potential ramifications. THey mis read the situation and we got burned. It was a miscalculation that has delayed our return to competitiveness. I will give him props that he has not meddled any where near as much as he did during his first decade of ownership. Let's just hope it stays that way with any new coach he may bring in.
Then you're fucking retarded.
Apparently you have comprehension issues. What talent is around your injury riddled QB? I have never heard a single person defend Snyder until now. Wow, just wow. I know more about your team than you do.![]()
good retort, I can always expect you to come up with good arguments....go play in the highway.
I can't think of a single reason to trade Cousins at this point in the season. End of the season? Maybe. I say get rid of REX for a roster spot on any one of the positions we need help at.
I can think of 3 reasons to trade Cousins now
1) We need extra picks to fill holes we can't address in FA
2) How is he helping the team on the bench (not his fault)
3) Trade now because team(s) need a QB NOW. After the season his trade value decreases.
