"Heads roll often, but they don't roll far."

By process of elmination, we can be sure that he will NOT be returning to Chicago, who have their eyes on Girardi and have already suffered through one of Dusty's tenures. The Yankees wouldn't touch him, even if Girardi left for the Cubbies...Boston, Tampa, Baltimore are all good...Mets, Braves, Phillies seem to be set - does anyone know if Sandberg is staying with Philly, for sure? Kansas City just extended Yost...Dodgers, Cards, Pirates are all set...ditto for the Tigers and Cleveland.

The only places I can think that might want him would be Washington, The White Sox, Seattle, or the Angels??? I have no idea if they're going to keep Scioscia around. Again, the guy gets opportunities with talented teams, so I could see him going to Anaheim, having them in the playoffs within 2 or 3 years, then getting beat in another LDS and fired. Again.

im thinkimg yakult swallows or nippon ham fighters.....

Off to a rollicking Friday start.

dusty baker gets good, talented teams, gets them into the playoffs, and then his brain apparently freezes up. I have no other explanation on why or how he can get three different teams into the post-season and have virtually nothing to show for it other than a WS loss and "Steve Bartman."

But he'll get another job.

It freezes up in the regular season too.

im sure you been asked before, but red sox, steelers, rangers??

I have. Short version:

  • I grew up in Queens and was a Mets fan. Also always liked the Sox. I switched for good in 1986.
  • when I was a kid, Joe Greene was my favorite football player. I was 6 and this guy was called "Mean Joe". I thought that was pretty cool.
  • The Rangers are my only local team
It was great in my house growing up as my Dad and brother are Yankee fans. I will say I can personally take credit for converting about a half dozen friends/family to the Sox over the years. That is not an easy task, especially when they were losing.

Baker ends up in a place like Kansas City. They have some young pitchers coming up that he can really mess up.

last june?

Oh absolutely. Time has a different meaning in the state of Bostonmass.

Recall what 500Million said the other day: 2004 = ancient history, but the yankees have won X number of pennants and Y number of World Series in the last 20 years, which is relevant.

LOL...that's the main criticism of him, aside from sucking, i guess.

He'll have to wait a bit for that gig, cause they just gave Ned Yost another two years.

He might be...think he's more of a Berkshires kinda guy.

I just remember when he said 2004 wasn't relevant, but 1996 was. Or something to that effect.
