I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the playoffs next year, after that their finances are reset and they can spend again, if their farm produces anything serviceable they could contend again in 2015.

The FA market is this year anyway.

No on Granderson, Robertson will get every opportunity to close. Bottom line is there will be a substantial downgrade at closer from now until the end of time.

Austin Romine and J.R. Murphy will share catching duties next year IMO. The Yankees also have Gary Sanchez waiting in the wings, which is why I don’t see them going out and signing a free agent catcher. I think the Yankees need to give these three kids the chance to succeed or fail and then go from there. Blocking them with a free agent for the next 3-4 years is a good way to see to it that all three fail.
